TS-AMS8 vs C4-LU862D

ag020

Question

Hello

I have a HC800 and 2 older 4-Zone Matrix Amplifier C4-8AMP1-B.

My video is feed directly from 4 different Cable Box all located in a rack.

I have a bunch more C4 equipment and devices but nothing related to this discussion ( screen, switchs, ....  )

One of my 4 zone Amplifier went bust on me

I may want to upgrade my system and run all AV through a Leaf Matrix

Also want to upgrade from OS 2.10.1 to the latest OS

My rep is suggesting

·       TS-AMS8 Control4 (Triad ) 8-Source, 8-Zone audio  matrix switch

·       TS-PAMP8-100 Control4 ( Triad ) 8 zones 100w Ice power amplifier

·       C4-LU862D Control4 Leaf 4K UltraHD 8x8 matrix with few HDBaseT ( with audio downmix  )

I have the feeling the TS-AMS8 may not be required if I go with C4-LU862D or C4-LU642D.

Any comments, suggestions

Thanks

If you have any audio only devices, like using streaming audio from a controller or a Sonos box, then you'll have to take up an input on the HDMI matrix.  Plus volume control will be much better from the AMS.  I wouldn't even consider the Leaf switch, plenty of other well-tested matrices like AV Pro.

Well, you can add several sources via digi coax, but the handling on the audio matrix is better.

And I would happily consider an LU 'D' series matrix. But to each there own.
