Trouble with Control 4 remotes

I've had Control 4 systems over the years in 4 different homes and always have issues with the remotes.  I've found that batteries don't last long and that sometimes they corrode.  When this happens vinegar and a q-tip seem to work.  This time I have a 4 year old remote that hasn't had any corrosion, but even though I've tried numerous set of new batteries, I still can't get the remote the load.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

I've found 'dead remotes' often times have springs that get caught in themselves - usually just some wriggling and pushing with a slim pen, pensil ore similar item 'untangles' them.

Mind you you tend to notice this because gravity will make th battery fall out (ie hold the remote up a bit with the lid open - if the batteries sag or fall out, likely the springs.
