Powering a 6 button keypad

dans

Recommended Posts

I have a few locations that I want to put 6 button keypads. They currently

only have cat5 going downstairs to the panels

on my rack. Does anyone know an easy way to power these

keypads utilizing the cat5 and the rj45 panels

in the basement? I prefer not to pull the wires

off the back of the panels.

Im assuming 48v POE power won't work?

You can get a low voltage power supply.

Call your dealer for details, I would provide them if I had them.

But can one do more than one switch, and can i put rj45s on it. n

Dealer will be here later, I just wanted to see what you all have done.

The C4 low voltage power supply can power multiple keypads. The is a list of exactly how many, if I recall I think it is 8 or 10 keypads per transformer.

You can build the cable you need to hook the power supply to your existing wire. I recommend using multiple conductors in the Cat-5. Tie all the blue/white and orange/white together and tie all the green/white and brown/white together. This will give you a larger overall gauge of wire.

Edit: Here is what the C4 power supply can handle

Alan are you swearing at us or is this a new C4 language ???:lol:

Ops. I just cut and pasted out of the PDF manual for the C4 power supply. Looks like something didn't paste correctly.

Thanks guys, we'll give this a shot. I'm only thinking 3 or 4 keypads anyways so i should be good either way.

I wish we could just tap into the 48v the POE switch puts out to run these, that would be ideal (i have a 48 port 10/100/1000 with POE on all the ports).
