Central Vac

Most vacs are plugged in so, you could yank the duplex box out, add in a remodel 4-plex box, add a c4 switch to control the duplex outlet. This way you have a solution to control the power.

You can't sense voltage with those though. I guess just turning it off is fine though.

You certainly could, but the real application is how long do you set this for? The customer is using the VAC and you kill it for 30 sec. then while he is talking on the phone the relay kicks back in and the unit start again blasting his tel conversation. Maybe you could simply pulse it a few times to get them to pull the hose out before answering the call.

Some ideas are novel, but the implementation requires more thought. Cool concept and with a relay connection, very cheap to implement.

Got to love this stuff!

You can use a phone line voltage detector. Similiar to the way Tivo, or other devices sense when the phone is in use. This is how a multi line phone that is not part of a PBX lights up when a telephone somewhere else connected to the same line is using it.
