I do not have significant experience with other in-ceiling speakers, but outfitted my zone audio with Mono Price 8" Carbon Fibre Alpha through 6 zones in our home. We have been using them for almost 3 years and have had no issues, speakers were an awesome value and sound great.

Two potential solutions:

Setup an Amazon Echo(s) using an aux cable directly into your audio matrix as an input. Then program auto on for certain zones. You can then ask Alexa to play "x" on "room" you would need to have a dedicated Echo in your matrix for each zone or set of zones. 

Utilize Speakerfy Spotify Connect Skill. This only works if you are a spotify premium subscriber but allows Alexa to play and control devices that utilize spotify connect. I then create multiple spotify connect profiles (for different rooms/zones) with an auto on. I can then say Alexa play "x" then says Alexa play on "room" and it will start playing on that pre-programmed zone.
