Interesting Problem with Netgear ProSafe Router...

Recommended Posts

I had a Netgear ProSafe 8-port FVG318 switch/router that was acting up. Tech came out, installed a Cisco Router and Netgear 5-port ProSafe switch temporarily and took the 8-port switch back to his office as he couldn't get it running right onsite. He did a firmware update and reset the switch at his office. He hooked up a number of devices to the switch at the office... all worked fine for several days. Tech, thinking everything is okay with the 8-port switch came back out to install the 8-port switch back in, however, when he did my in wall mini touch panels wouldn't work correctly and the 8-port switch failed (all the lights on the front of the switch starts blinking rapidly at the same time). He disconnected the POE injectors from the switch and ran the media controller, laptop through the 8-port switch and the switch worked fine, but when he plugged back in the POE injectors, switch failed again. He then re-installed the 5-port in line with the 8-port switch and plugged the POE injectors into the 5-port switch and everything ran fine... STRANGE!

Any thoughts on what's going on here??? Tech's baffled. He's going to call Netgear on Monday. Thanks.

Scott
