VUDU looks pretty cool!

Yeah we've heard it all before how Company XYZ has a box coming out which can deliver content over the internet but this looks like the real deal. I think I'm going to get myself one for Christmas. They have a user forum if you want to check out what people are saying about it.

One downside is that he supplied remote is RF only. BUT, the latest sw update enabled it to be controlled using ethernet (IP) and they say they will be adding IR soon ! Not yet sure how you can interface it with C4 using IP but it looks like it could be really nice.

I don't understand the appeal of this kind of device. It's just video on demand. Most people have cable or satallite which already has VOD or am I missing something?

I have Dish sat. and they really don't have true VOD like cable, and even with all the movie channels, we still rent from the video store when something good comes out that we want to see. It's not really just VOD, it's more like buying and/or renting movies without having to go to the store or using Netflix. I guess the appeal is similar to downloading music over the internet (legally); I haven't bought an actual CD in years. I have a lot of DVD's that I'm going to load into a Sony 777, but with VUDU, I imagine it will be more convenient to have it download directly to it's hard drive.

The piece is pretty cool, it's lacking on content.

It is awesome being able to select a movie, press play and it downloads immediately off the internet. I think iTunes will get it perfect, when they finally announce it.
