Can't Connect using Composer

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Just installed ME 1.3.2, and can't get my director it to show up on the list.

The controller was originally set to dynamicIP and was reporting 'connected' to the remote access system

What I've tried so far:

- manually entered the IP

- tried setting the IP manually and rebooting, this disable the remote access (reports disconnected).

- connecting my laptop to the router via a hardline

- updating the firmware via the update service

Also - on another post a user suggested starting composer in Virtual Mode - my current software shows this option (as well as remote access) but they are both greyed out - how do I start in virtual mode???

Thanks in advance.

You cant start virtual mode in Media Edition. Its only for local use by the system owner. He's probably talking about Composer Pro edition.

Do a test to make sure your laptop and the controller are on the same network.

In windows: START > Run. In there, type cmd and click OK.

A DOS type window will show up. Now type: ping 192.168.0.14 or whatever the ip of your controller is set to. Then press enter. You should get 4 replies from your controller if it is on the network.

If this doesnt give you any joy. Check that the subnet mask and default gateway are the same as your laptop.

Make sure the controller network connections are firmly plugged in (I spent half an hour yesterday doing the same thing)
