mmccants27
What kind of connector do i need to integrate my Caddx NX8E alarm panel with an HTC?
K&J
All you are using is Rx, TX and Gnd.This panel comes with a ribbon cable, I believe this end is a 9 pin 232, (almost positive) either way you can cut the end off the ribbon cable and scotch lock or dolphin the to a Cat 5E. As this is very small wire I've had better luck using scotch locks. Now attach to your HTC.Pins are the following:With Ribbon Cable attached to panel facing up.Starting with Red wire to the left and counting the Red Wire.#3 RX#5 TX#9 GndGood Luck
capww8
I've never had an 8e that shipped with the ribbon cable, it's a seperate part number from GE (although I may just be unlucky there). You just need that part, and a null-model DB-9 serial cable.

orrinc
The cable is identical to the ones used to add RS-232 serial ports to PC's. The only difference is that the PC version usually has the DB9 connector attached to a bracket that fits in a PC slot. Loosen the screws and slip the bracket off and you're good to go!You can usually find them at Fry's and other computer stores. Maybe not for much longer since serial ports are getting rare on PC's, but I've still found them easily and cheaper than from GE.
