DS
I just bought two switches from a friend of mine. One of them has 5 wires out the back like a dimmer? All my other switches have 4? The second has an air gap notch like the dimmers do. None of my other switches have that (just my dimmers). Any ideas why this is?
henniae
When you say switches do you mean C4 dimmers or C4 switches, because there is a difference.C4 dimmers have the air gap and C4 switches do not.C4 dimmers have the following wires Ground - green Neutral - white Hot - Black Load - Red Traveler- BlueC4 switches have all of the above except the blue wire. The main difference between a C4 dimmer and a C4 switch is what type of load it can control. DS
Completely understand. I have a C4 switch with 5 wires and no air gap, and another switch with 4 wires and an air gap. Neither of these are dimmers. They came in Switch boxes and the gray C4 label on the back says they are switches. I know this is weird, that's why I'm asking.
