tebery
Anyone use a HP Media Server? I currently have a ReadyNAS NV+. I am not a very 'techy' person, but like the idea of auto back up, I have 5 laptops, 3 desktops and one mac desktop.thanks
ms2bmw
I have an EX485 streaming music and video to my c4 media player. Works pretty well. Nothing special config wise, just created a user with read only access and had the installer use it during the install. The server also backups 4 pcs and 1 imac. 3fingerbrown
The HP website says the HP media server doesn't play copyright protected files, or at least you "may" have problems playing copy protected files. You have any issues ripping DVDs and playing them on the HP?
ms2bmw
nope. I use AnyDVD HD to rip and ripbot264 (for bluray) to convert it to .mp4. Regular dvds are in .iso format. I don't play them on the HP, I just stream it using the PS3 media server http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/. I'm sure twonky and windows media center will work fine as well.
