BobB
Does anyone know anything about this Video Storm CRM84 Component Video Matrix Switcher vs. the Key Digital Fat Boy matrix switcher? The Video storm is half the cost….and am curious as to why. Has anyone had a good or bad experience with the Video Storm? http://www.video-storm.com/proddetail.asp?prod=CRM84vs. http://www.keydigital.com/ProductDetail.aspx?categorycode=300&itemno=KD-MSW8X4&productname=Video/Audio%20Switchersthank you,Bob
audiovisionsbr
I have not installed the Video Storm, but just finished a job with the Key Digital 8x4. The biggest difference is the Video Storm has RCA style connections while the FatBoy has BNC style. We had to make our own RCA to BNC cables, so that feature alone would have saved us about 5 hours.I would also like to know if anyone has installed the Video Storm switcher and what kind of luck they had. From a feature standpoint, the Video Storm looks superior, but I'm curious if the quality is as good as the FatBoy.
BobB
I have also been told to check out this switcher from Neothings....anyone use this one?http://www.neothings.com/Avalon8x4int.htmlThanks.
danlevine
We just use BNC to RCA adapters. They are very inexpensive and they work great with the Key Digital.
audiovisionsbr
We ended up using BNC to RCA adapters in the end. Getting there was a PITA, though. I like the FatBoy and it has worked flawlessly, but it doesn't have any connections for HDMI or Optical. That's why I was so interested in the Video Storm switch. tshepherd
BobB - I have the 6x2 version of the Neothings switch and it works great. Pretty simple serial programming (assuming you want to use serial), although it is strictly 1-way in my case. One of the nicest features is the digital audio conversion from Toslink to Coaxial and vice-versa. I also haven't noticed any issues with video quality when using the switch to drive an HD Tivo, DVD, XBox 360, etc, to 2 LCD TVs.Tom
