Prewiring for distributed and local sources

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm in the midst of prewiring design and have a question regarding my bedroom.

Let's say I'm using control4 and AVAtrix for video.

I would like to have the master bedroom ceiling speakers

- play distributed audio

- play distributed video (thru TV and speakers)

- play local DVD (thru TV and speakers)

I'm guessing I need a second HTC here, not sure?

If I have an HTC here, do I need a 10.4" touchscreen, or should I just control the home automation thru the TV gui?

How do I wire so that the sound comes through both the TV and speakers for video? Do I need some sort of source switch on the wall?

Are these the right options?

OPTION ONE

Wire DVD player through wall to TV. In this manner, the local DVD would not be able to be a source on the network.

How do I add an IR sensor to the DVD?

How do I get the sound from the DVD player to come out of the local ceiling speakers?

The speakers would already be hardwired back to the media closet via keypad or touchscreen location.

OPTION TWO

Distributed audio comes to Local HTC then to speakers? Or does it bypass the local HTC and go directly to speakers?

Should I use a 10.4" touchscreen here, or TV GUI for HA?

The local DVD player would be attached to the local HTC.

The HTC is networked back to the media closet, but should it also be hardwired to the TV somehow?

How do I get the sound from the local DVD to come out of the ceiling speakers?

How do you wire so that the local DVD player is a networkable source?

Please use cabling and wall jacks info where possible in your replies.

Thanks,

Peggy
