  1. Hello All,

I have a light switch that keeps turning on by itself.  It's NOT at the same time everyday and for the life of me I can't figure out what's triggering it.  Is there a way in home eddition to see trigger history so I can go back and look at what event triggered that switch to turn on?

Or is there a way to search for all places in my programing where that switch name shows up?

    Thanks!

Do you have any non alarm zones?

I've seen it happen in the official ELK driver.. That's actually been pulled from the database now.

You could use the trial (and if you're an installer, we have a major new beta if you contact us directly), for the Chowmain driver: https://chowmain.software/drivers/control4-elk-m1 It has a 90 day trial

I just looked.  I have doors, windows, motion...only one that is not in those categories that shows up under "unknown" is "keyfob"

Basically, uninstall the adapter, tehn reinstall it:

    https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/ManagingWindowsTAPDrivers

So I uninstalled all instances of home edition, uninstalled open VPN… Then when I reinstalled composer home edition it asked me if I wanted to reinstall the top drivers and I said yes and the problem still persisted.

Not sure if you saw the other post but the weird thing is I can connect to one of my control four systems with no problem remotely but the other one is the one that delivers the error and will not connect.

I am beyond happy to pay for the help… Would you at all be willing to do a remote session on my computer and help me resolve?

Are u using any firewall? Anyways, make sure your DNS is working properly, flush your PC DNS and try to connect again, it simply can’t reach C4 servers for authentication!

I will try that but isn't strange that:

    1) The same thing is happening on 2 different computers?

    2) I have 2 C4 systems...main house and vacation house.  I can connect to main house remotely and don't get the error above...but the error above is what I get when I try to connect to vacation house.

    THANKS for your continued help!

UPDATE - I flushed the DNS on both machines and got the same result and error message as posted above.

Make sure u can see hidden files in windows and uninstall HE and any other composer releases:

    1) Open File Explorer/Windows Explorer

    2) Type %AppData% into the address bar and hit enter

    3) Navigate to “Roaming” folder

    4) Navigate to “Control4” folder

    5) Delete it

    6) Restart windows

    7) Install a fresh copy of HE same version of your controller

Thanks!  So I tried all of this, re-installed everything.  Now I can't connect connect where it tells me is seeing controller.  It keeps saying "Verifying account, email, password"...the fails and tries it all over again.  I've checked the account name, email and password over and over again.  I'm using the exact same credentials to connect using the app so I know it's right.

Oddly when try the credentials for my other house with control4 system it connects there no problem.

I've also tried on a totally different machine and the exact thing happens so I know it's not my machine settings.

When I click on "more info" this is what is says so not sure what to do next.

is your system itself on 3.3.3?  the software + your OS need to match.

So my system is 3.3.0.  I have also tried version HE 3.3.0 with the same result.  When I was at the location and connected locally 3.3.3 was able to connect just fine.  It's seems just be remote.

And now I'm getting this strange message (SEE ATTACHED) that showed up a couple of times.

Try to completely delete all hidden directories under roaming after uninstalling HE again, start with a clean install of HE that matches your controller version

This is a good idea.  Can you tell me which directories I need to delete and where they are located?

Also, you're not using some crappy 3rd party antivirus are you?

    I don't.  It's a Windows 10 PC that is JUST for control4.

Should be able to setup a colored button or custom to toggle view mode.

This is a great comment and another question that I have.  When I'm programing it in Home Edition I see where I an choose the view mode.  It's not a toggle but rather a list of the modes...However, for some reason ALL the view modes (about 7 or 8 ) that show up on my TV are not listed with in the driver.  I only see 4 or 5 of them.

You should have a watch option for the TV. You just have to go watch TV and that will give you control of the TV menus

Thanks!  I do have that but then in goes into the full TV menu and turns off the DirecTV input.  So if I'm watching a movie on DirecTV and I want to see what the different viewing modes will look like I can't do that.  Somehow trying to tell the remote to control the TV with out changing the input from DirectTV....if that makes sense. :)

  9. Hoping to get some programing help on the right way to do this.  Here is what I'm trying to solve.

    1) I'm in room "Family Room" watching DirectTV.  The remote and all it's buttons are controlling the DirectTV

    2) While watching DirecTV I would like to be able to adjust settings on the TV such as picture mode, etc.

    3) I made a custom button for "TV Settings" which opens the TV's settings menus but all the buttons on the remote that I need such are directional buttons, select button, are still controlling DirectTV.

I'm trying to find a way that when I'm viewing the TV's settings that the remote buttons change over to the TV buttons.

    Thanks for the help.

Are you using the the LG IP Driver for control?   I have this very issue with the IP Control on my 83G2.   My way around was switching from IP to Serial.  Now when the TV boots up from being in standby it switches inputs reliably.

Thanks for this.  They did set it up via the IP.  I think I found a coding work around which adds a delay IF TV is off when the system is turned on and TV Apps is pressed.  I'll keep testing it but so far so good.

  11. Hello,

I'm looking for some help, programing tips for my new LG TV.

I just installed a new LG 83 G2 TV.  It's great.  My C4 dealer was here and did the install and the programing.

When I press "Watch" on my remote he added an option that says "TV Apps" which takes me to the main menu on the LG TV that has of my apps.  This works fine as long as my system is already on.  So if I'm on Apple TV or DirecTV and press "Watch/TV Apps" it takes me to that LG menu.  BUT....if the whole system is OFF (and when I turned it off I was on another input such as AppleTV or DirecTV) and I press "Watch/TV Apps" the system turns on and I'm seeing the screen savor for my Yamaha receiver.  The menu button does not bring up the LG menu.  I have to again press "Watch/TV Apps". Once I do that it works fine.

I'm trying to figure out a way where I don't have to do this 2 times to get it to work.  Either because it's not set up right or I need to add a program?

    Thanks!

Are your private subnets the same between both locations?

I'm not there anymore...but guessing they might be?  Now that I'm at my main location.

    1) I can connect to my C4 system here locally on the same machine no problem

    2) I'm able (on a different windows machine) to connect to vacation house via remote connection no problem.

I'll have to test again when I get back there.

Actually I think it’s an IP issues, so he might have in main house a network setup that is not replicated in the other house, IP conflict of some kind!

So I think you might be on to something but not sure how to fix it.

So I realized that when I click "Local" it is seeing the correct EA1 BUT....it is showing met the IP of my OTHER location, not the correct IP this EA1.  Maybe I need to enter it manually?

  14. I'm all the sudden having issues connecting to my controller.

I have 2 different houses running C4.  I was able to connect to my main house system locally using my parallels set up.  It worked fine.

Now I'm at my other location, same version of C4 and trying to connect locally the same way.  I've connected to it locally many many times.

Everything comes up like normal.  It finds my controller, it says "Ready to connect" but when I hit connect it just spins and will not pull in my system.  Eventually it will time out and say unable to connect to the controller.

    I've restarted my EA1

My dealer tested and was able to connect remotely.

System is running 3.3.0 and I'm using HE 3.3.1

    Any ideas?

No clue if TAP is supported under parallels, but you can easily find it online as a separate install (just get the latest version) - and TAP is a virtual network adapter that allows composer to connect to remote systems, so yes it's required.

Thank you so much I will try to do that. Do I just search for Windows tap download?

i’ve been running composer on parallels for years with no issues. But new computer and new operating system seem to put a damper on things.

I have it on a MacBook Pro M1 and a new iMac with M1.  The iMac suffered this fate oddly as it went right to 11.  However, i got it to work by rolling back to previous preview build.  When i first installed Parallels on the iMac composer worked fine but i ran an update that was called for THEN only old composers would work, even 3.0 works but 3.2.3 did not.  Strange behavior for sure but i rolled back and luckily that worked for now…

I'm having this same issue. Just to confirm when you say rolling back… Are you rolling back the version of windows in parallels or are you rolling back to an older version of composer?

I'm able like you said to get composer 3.0 or 3.1 to open but since my C4 system is on 3.2 it is telling me I need a newer version of composer.  However when I install 3.2 the app will not open.  Ugg....not sure what to do.

Any help will be much appreciated.
