    Other options:
Shelly - haven't tried it myself, but the theory is all there.
They allow 3 virtual triggers free, or sign up for Premium (~$40 yearly) and have up to a 100
You setup Shelly as the go between to send the trigger to Amazon as a virtual doorbell.
Set pretty much anything in Shelly based on it's state.
When light at 10% Notify Amazon Trigger 10 for example.

How do you feel about a third party having access to some of your Amazon information?
These all have Sign in with Amazon requirements to set up linking.

    Webhook Routine Trigger

    Voice Monkey

    Virtualsmarthome.xyz

    Each operate similarly.
Send a URL command to their website and it's passed to Amazon.
So reliant on their web service and Amazon Partner shares from Amazon at least: name, email, account ID and access token.

Thanks Rav for the overview, very much appreciate the effort. Shelly sounds like a good alternative for people that dont want to share account information with third parties so I will look into that.

Separate question I have is around the possibility of knowing what Alexa device is spoken to in a multi-Alexa household. Do you know if there is a way to get this information to Control4 so that e.g. when I say 'good-night' in a certain bedroom, some logic can trigger different routines / logic dependent on the Alexa device spoken to n order to switch of lights, TV, etc in that room?

Take a look at the documentation. In short, you create a trigger in voicemonkey which appears as a doorbell in Alexa. Create a routine in Alexa for when your voicemonkey routine triggers. Call it via the API (or webhook) they provide using the chowmain generic tcp driver.

Thanks, I’ve been reading through the documentation but wasn’t sure if I had to use HA or IFTTT as a bridge between VM and C4. Are you saying that the TCP driver can communicate directly with VM and get its full capability?

Kasa is 100% supported by amazon still

The Kasa plug is still fully controllable by Alexa but Alexa does not allow its dimming value to be used as a routine trigger event. I am looking for a way to trigger Alexa speech by using an input from Control4. It would take home automation to the next level.

    Sure thing, here it is.

Just configure the virtualbuttons URLs in the properties, then to programmatically call one of the URLs  just set the webhooks variable to the corresponding number.

Hi Rick, does this still work and if so would you mind sharing the details? I bought 2 Kasa modules recently to achieve this functionality but that doesn’t seem to be supported by Amazon anymore.

I have everything setup but in Alexa routines I can only program against On or Off. How do I get dimmer settings 1-100 to show in routines?

Are you also using the Kasa plug and if so what did you install on the Alexa side for it to show up under events? How is your plug configured in Alexa, as a plug or as a light? Maybe changing it to a light in the device settings in Alexa will enable the dimming settings. Also, do you know if I need to use the Kasa plug device that is discovered from control4 or the one that is discovered from Alexa directly itself? I have two showing in Alexa. Any help on how I can get this to show in Alexa events will be hugely appreciated as I purchased two of these module from the US specifically for this functionality and don’t seem to be able to get it configured to show as events…

Can you control it in the Alexa App?

Yes can control it in the Alexa app, it has been discovered and is added as a device in the Alexa app. I am just not able to create a routine event for the Kasa plug, it is not showing in the smart home section for events. Is this where you do see the Kasa Plug?

This is how I do it:
Get a KASA KP405 plug in outdoor dimmer, I named mine Link.
Plug in anywhere in the house, but don't plug a lamp or anything into it.
Add a Kasa Driver to Control4 (recommend Chowmainsoft)

This device can be seen by BOTH Control4, and by Alexa Routine, and controlled by both systems.
So it can relay and trigger events between the two systems.
One side sets a percentage, the other does something and resets the Link to off.

    Examples.
    Control4 set Link to 10%
Alexa Routine - when Link is 10% Announce "Come to Dinner" and set Link to off
Alexa Routine - when Ring Alarm is set to Away, set Link to 90%
Control4 programming when Link is 90% run Macro goodbye (which includes setting Link back to off)

In theory you can set 100 different percentages, so can relay 100 events between Alexa and Control4.

Hi Rav, any idea why I am not seeing the Kasa plug as a programmable smart home event in Alexa?

  8. I have now installed and configured the TP-Link Kasa module and have it working from Control4 to Alexa but dont seem to be able to use the Kasa Plug as a When event in Alexa. I was expecting the Kasa Plug to show in the Smart Home section of the when events but can only see my echo devices in here and not the smart plug. Any ideas what is missing here?

  9. Control4 driver is up-to-date and just checked DoorBird as well and also seems to be on the latest version. It’s really weird because snapshots work in the pop-up of the driver but it looks like they are not stored properly. When door bell is pressed and snapshot emailed then the URL copied in my earlier post takes me to a very old snapshot from years ago.

  10. To add to this, when I press the 'Get Snapshat URL' button then I get the status message: 'URL obscured by the driver developer/manufacturer. Contact them for further support'. When I copy the URL in the Lua log (http://192.168.xx.xx/bha-api/history.cgi?index=1&event=doorbell&http-user=ghfpba0002&http-password=XXXXXXXXXX) then I see a very old picture.

Any ideas are more then welcome.

  11. I have the same problem with no Doorbird message included in the push notification. All other functionality of the doorbirdv2 driver seems to work well, I can watch the video stream in C4 app, etc but snapshots are not send. When I test the snapshot and video in the C4 system design of the Doorbirdv2 driver then also reported successful. I have been trying to get this working in the last 4 hours but no success. Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

  12. I have installed the driver in Control4 and the apps are launching on Fire TV but I cannot control the Fire TV with my Control4 remote which is a SR-260. Below is the log when pressing buttons on my control4 remote.

  13. Tried to use the image tool v2 to upgrade my EA3 from 2.9.1 factory default to 3.2.4 of Composer but so far only been able to install the next version up. Means I would have to install about 10 images to get to 3.2.4. Is this normal process or are there better ways to do it? Every image takes about 20 min so this would take a long time…

Don't think I did the last part, would explain it. Thanks.

Same here, thanks a lot for the explanation, I have been changing names in the Alexa app as well so if you can confirm there is nothing to be edited on the Alexa side of things and just within the C4 webpage then I will try again. Also at what point in this process are you doing the discover devices in Alexa? Is this once at the beginning, or multiple times in this process?

I've been using the C4 option for Alexa a while now and using the Alexa Groups option helps a lot.
You no longer have to say the room as part of the command.

"Alexa turn the lights off" or "Alexa turn on Netflix" just works in the room I am in.

That's interesting as I have been using the room groups within Alexa as well but many times Alexa would ask me things like 'I have multiple devices with TV, which one do you like?'. I therefore didn't think it worked well but happy to know if you have any suggestions.

I just heard from Ari, they are hoping for a fix for V3.1.3 at the end of the week.

    Fingers crossed!

Just noticed they have now taken the driver from their website so its great that they aren't putting other people in the same situation to try and get this working. I also hope they will fix the multi-echo account functionality as this is a truly great feature that really adds value compared to the native control4 voice scene driver.

Does anyone know if there are any alternatives to this driver? I wouldn't expect for Amazon but perhaps for Google...?
