  1. As the title says, I’m curious about using a Core 3 for a preamp feeding a “dumb” amplifier for zone audio.

What are the issues of doing zone audio this way, other than having limited matrix type control for different sources/zones?

Planning on adding 2 outdoor zones with the Core 3 feeding a 4 channel amp via the analog outs.

    Will this function correctly?

  2. Heh, it happens in two locations so it's got to happen everywhere on all reeivers, and all Cores? That's quite the leap.
AFAIK -and that's because it's been in fact reported- the Core1 is the only one having an issue, and while it's on multiple brands and models, it's not on ALL surround receivers. May be chip/board related.
But yes there's a bug there that's being looked at to the best of my knowledge.

    Not just a Core1

    Also happening on a Core3

Requires a replacement unit to be sent out.

A Lyngdorf processor and a big box Yamaha receiver are pretty far apart in the spectrum, so I seriously doubt that everything in between works perfectly.

  3. The Core controllers have a HDMI handshake issue with most AVRs. My Core 1 will not handshake after the first handshake unless the controller is rebooted.

My Core is connected to a Lyngdorf MP60, but I have a friend who is having the same issue with a mass market AVR, so I know it isn't a Lyngdorf issue.

Major bummer to "upgrade" to a new controller, only to have functionality break.

  4. The Core controllers have a HDMI handshake issue with most AVRs. My Core 1 will not handshake after the first handshake unless the controller is rebooted. This is persistent, even after changing the output resolution manually.

My Core is connected to a Lyngdorf MP60, but a friend of mine has the same issue with a lower end mass market receiver, so i'd say the issue covers the spectrum of most installs.

  5. Hi guys,
My Onkyo receiver checked out on me after a lightning storm the other night. It was a solid 8 or 9 years old anyway... So, it's really just a good excuse to my wife to get a new one.
Anyway, I already have a replacement on the way (Denon AVR-S750H), but of course I can't change anything in CHE or even see the IP address I need to force it to in order to maintain the network control. How much am I looking at for one of you awesome remote guys to hop in there and swap it out for me? I'd love for it to be ready to go when the new one gets here Wed or Thurs.
    Thanks,
    -M

  6. I posted in the Facebook user’s group last week in an attempt to find a remote dealer/installer, and I thought this would also be a great place to post this:

I just wanted to drop an update.

I posted last Thursday, I was contacted by Ryan Calderon of Lucrii Solutions that evening. We set up a call on Friday to talk through the project. He was very courteous and took the time to understand my requirements and suggest which Control4 solution would be right for me.

I placed an order with him for a modest system that afternoon, with the expectation that it would be a few weeks to get the equipment shipped to and provisioned by Ryan, then shipped out to me for installation.

I am pleasantly surprised to say my Control4 system is now installed and fully functional only 3 business days later!

    I am impressed.

Ryan remotely programmed my system today in just two hours, and that included chasing down a new driver from the Anthem AV website because the driver in Composer Pro didn’t work correctly.

When I posted last week, I did some searching of older posts. I saw Ryan’s post about him being cost competitive and subsequent replies saying “the cheapest is not the best option”, but I just want to say I couldn’t have asked for a better experience at an awesome price.

Great job Ryan, I’ll be doing more with my system soon and you’ll be getting the call!

If anyone is looking for a remote dealer / programmer, I can without reservation recommended Ryan to get the job done, at an awesome price!!!
