    I like these ....
    https://www.legrand.us/categories/smart-lighting/rf-lighting-controls.aspx

Works with C4 via Legrand LC7001 hub.

Aren’t you the estimator for an EC? Does your company buy a lot of P&S devices? If so you can likely get decent pricing through your distributor ..... I pay about 40% list for Radiant and 50% list for Adorne you see at the link above.

You can’t do things with 3rd party devices as you can with C4 devices like double-tap commands, change the backlighting color, change dimmer ramp rate, etc. Also the Legrand scene controllers are not visible within Control4 and can’t be used to activate C4 created scenes. They also cannot be engraved. You can create lighting scenes within C4 that are activated through the app, C4 keypad, or their touchscreen controller, or you can create lighting scenes in the LC7001 hub to use with the Legrand scene controller. Those scenes can then be imported to Composer. You could always just use a C4 scene controller as well in conjunction with Legrand devices. Would need to use satin color finishes for C4 devices to match the Legrand colors. MSRP for a C4 120v configurable keypad is $250 btw.

The Nuvo stuff I told you about at the other board also has C4 drivers, matching keypads in both switch aesthetics... NV-P10 for Radiant, NV-P20-AD for Adorne.

For the switches,  one thing to consider is C4 just came out with a less expensive line of light switches.   They have a few limitations versus the normal C4 switch but still look good and I believe its around $95 for a switch.

Wow.. less expensive at $95? Geez. I was willing to pay about $70 and thought that was a little on the higher end. I'd have to buy these for every room I want to control the lights correct? Thank you

I’d hire a good c4 expert to help you through your design and get your core building blocks in place. C4 is really scalable, and rock solid reliable if designed by the right experts. Plus, because it is scalable, you will catch your self with use cases that you are not even thinking about now, but if you get the foundation right can be added when time is right.

Understood and makes sense. My budget is on the lower end than most C4 I'm sure. Can I find an expert on this forum to hire? Thanks.

With C4 dimmers and switches they do work when not connected into a controller.

You are probably going to want a POE switch as it is a good idea to use POE for WAPs and cameras.

Buying a C4 amp and matrix switch is the way to go for your speakers.  I would put ceiling speakers into every room where you may want audio.  Even in rooms where you may have surround sound it can be useful to have ceiling for music, and announcements.

Thank you for advice. Yes wiring in ceiling speakers in LR, DR, KIT, and one room upstairs.

  5. Reduce the number of needed switch and buy C4.

Honestly, think you want to use a local dealer based on the type of questions you have been posting.
understood. what do you mean by reduce number of switches ? wall switches or some other switch?

btw...if I install/wire my c4 switches and don't have my system complete/tied into controller yet can I still trump lights off/on at the switch? TY

  6. So I'm doing all my pre-wiring this weekend. I'll be pre-wiring for the following.

    1. Security cameras

    2. Video Distribution.

    3. Shades

    4. Wires to my demarc location( also for future outdoor stuff).

    5. WAP's

Questions as I'd like to start buying stuff.

    1. Want to buy my smart switches- Any consensus on the best that are more on the budget friendly side ~$50 switch.

    2. What head end equipment will I need( patch panel etc.)

    3. What are my option for my audio control and where my speaker wires land?

    Thanks you very much.

control4 has its own proprietary zigbee pro stack.  It can work with some other products on other protocols too - some zwave and other zigbee devices as well as IP devices (hard wired, wifi), or control over IR, RS232, etc to name a few.  And you can also integrate some other hubs like lutron hubs, vera, etc so that opens up things.  3rd party drivers bring in more integration - for instance anything with IFTTT can be integrated into control4.  But now you are moving to cloud integration vs local control.

Audio feeds goes both ways - the EA3 can put out 3 audio streams at once, the EA5 can put out 5.  They can go to tons of zones, likely more than you'll need.  People on here have 30+ audio zones.

and yes, the larger the project, the more horsepower you need.  The EA5 is a more powerful controller than the EA3.  That said the EA3 is well equipped to handle a lot of residential work.

Truly appreciate the feedback. This forum alone is enough to make me a C4  user. Think I'll go with the EA3. Any other eye popping limitations?

  8. Hello all. I've been researching for months and I become more confused when trying to decide on controller...Homeseer, MyServer( yes they are DIY) or control4 etc.

I really have to make a decision in the next few days. I really didn't entertain C4 because I was told it's very "locked down" to what devices/protocol you can use and your tied to expensive dealer fees.

BTW, what protocol does C4 use for lighting etc.?

Here's my situation. I'm going to have the following. We don't have a very big house and right now I'm in the middle of pre-wiring.

    1. 4 interior audio zones( LR, kitchen, basement, upstairs)

    2. 2 outdoor audio zones.

    3. 4 exterior cameras and 2 interior cameras plus security system

    4. Would like interior lighting control for about 5 rooms and exterior lighting control.

    5. HVAC system control.

My main objective is to be able to set scenes for multiple things to happen and activate those scenes from phone of wall tablet.

How much would I be looking at to invest to get the equipment/ software/programming to this up and running? Heard that remote dealers can work on system and are cheaper. Also hear there is a C4 Home Composer software which lets the user do some work.

Any feed back would be greatly appreciate. This has been a long mind numbing process..lol

    My main objective is

  9. Hello All and thanks in advance.

So we are moving into out new 4br home in a few months. Starting the demo this weekend so all ceilings and wall will be open and plan on pre-wiring.

Not sure if alexa or google would be suffice or we should get control 4. Seems like everything is controllable through apps nowadays.

    Wish list and equipment installed

    1. voice controlled lighting.

    2. will be installed 4 exterior cameras and 3 interior

    3. Will be installing speakers throughout the house and out by pool( those will be wired). Currently have Sonos which we like. Not sure why anyone would installed wired speakers in wall/ceiling and be stuck with that location

    4. Not sure about video distribution? May run some cat 6a and coaxial to each tv location just in case.

    A few questions.

    1. Control4 control multiple things(scenes) to happen at once where google or alexa can't?

    2. Do you need a programmer/tech when installing control4
