  1. Took me a while, but I found my original log in information. Seems my system was installed in 2009, HC300 (and HC200), and the OS is Smart home OS 1.7.4. It says my last check in was 2016. I guess my system is 'old', haha, so maybe a new hardware upgrade is reasonable?
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, my remotes were the SR-250's and they ordered the SR-260's. If the problem is that the SR-260's cannot be downgraded to the software in the SR-250's, then I guess that may be part of the problem. I did think it was odd that they could not find an older version of the composer software (the tech was saying maybe someone in the office has an old computer with the old software on it, which I though was a lame excuse). I am not sure how to check which version I have (I don't have the app), but it seems I need a newer version of the software for the app to work (at least that is what the tech was saying). I'll check when I get home.
  3. Long story, but basically I have a contol4 system that I got installed years ago (8 or so). I think my installer retired/company went bankrupt. Everything for the most part has been working fine. My wife 'sleeps' with the remote, and half of the time it never leaves our bed. Our new puppy basically got ahold of the remote and destroyed it. My wife then takes the other remote from the living room, and does the same thing, and so does my dog. Now we have no remotes. Contacted Control4, who gave me a couple of installers names. Got 2 new controllers ordered, and he said the service tech would come to the house and should be able to pull the information from the unit. Of course nothing is that simple. Apparently the software in my units are 'old' and the installer doesn't have the previous generation composer software. Thus, the two options are to spend hours (3-4 minimum) upgrading the software in my two home controllers, and then downgrading the software in the new hand remotes, and then they still cannot guarantee it will work well. Now they want me to buy 2 new EA1 controllers and spend 4-5 hours installation (hourly charge is $175). Worst part is that the two wall screens I have have been dead for years (barely worked for 3 years or so), half of the wall light switch has not been working (buttons don't respond to touch), and all my wife (and I) want is a remote control to turn the TV/Dish/Xbox on/off and occasionally use the whole house audio that somehow still works. Are there any other options (control4 should still have older versions of the composer for the installer to use)?
