NX584 Not Importing Zone Names into Control4 3.0

Recommended Posts

I am having an issue with a NX-584 RS-232 Automation Module that is seemingly successfully communicating with my EA-5 system on Serial port 2 (DB9). My security system is a GE NX-8E.

Driver Name is: NX-584 RS-232 Automation Module with a Modified Date of 11/8/2016.

Arm/disarm functions, are all OK via the Navigators. Driver sees correctly that I only have Partition 1 active; i.e. Partition 1 Enabled=true. In the Zones Property tab, however, no zones appear. Even mouse tapping on the 'Read from Panel' in order to import Zone names, does not work. Setting logging to debug and looking at LUA output does show a seemingly treasure-trove of active polling and seeming successful zone names importation process, but it never comes into Control4. Refreshing Composer Pro as well as Refreshing all Navigators doesn't work. Quitting Composer Pro and coming back into it does not lead to success either. I have attached my Debug LUA output data for evaluation.

In iOS Control4 3.0x app, all of my 49 zones do appear correctly in Partition 1 and do actively and correctly show status (i.e. closed vs open). But the names are not imported.

I did follow all driver documentation for changing settings on the NX-584 module (i.e. device 72) with success. I did turn off all my unused partitions (i.e. 2-7), as well as turned off my unused zones.

BTW, I found that my NX-8E serial never worked years ago with earlier drivers --- I went the route of the NX-587E keypad module until that driver became non-up-gradable to Control4 OS 3.x. This module was disconnected and the NX-584 put in its place with a change to a Null serial adapter instead of straight.

Got it to work!

I had installed the correct driver BEFORE getting all of the settings right on the NX-8E (i.e. device 72, the NX-584 daughterboard). Even with the connection setup correct, etc., the reinitialize command did not work with actual importation of the zone names and/or zone numbers. However, arm-disarm-etc. did work.

Today, I just decided to delete the Interlogix Network NX584 driver completely, and just reinstalled the driver. After pairing the right Connections tab once again to my EA-5 serial port2, everything starting to work like a charm. No other changes were made. Weird. As if the 'reinitialize' or 're-import' command within the driver doesn't really work despite seemingly good LUA output feedback.
