GoGo Delicious
I have not had time to read this entire post but just a few points I would like to make.1) Is the amp in a rack? If so MAKE SURE the rack itself is grounded. This is a HUGE over site by a lot of installers/electricians2) If you are using a rack make sure you use "Isolating Washers" between the equipment and the rack posts3) Check what else is on the circuit and UNPLUG it. Do not just turn it off. This will help identify if something other than the amp that maybe causing the problem.4) If you are going through a surge protector unplug everything else from the SP to see if another piece of equipment is causing the issue.5) If you can, try plugging it into a different outlet both on the same and on a different circuit. It just might be the outlet itself or the wiring to that outlet. These are a few things you can try. At any rate NEVER remove or by pass any grounding that the manuf. has implemented in their equipment. Will it work yes. It will work fine UNTIL that one instance when a fire starts or one gets shocked or electrocuted.
CFUG
^Great info. I still find it unusual that his TV or a piece of C4 gear is causing this trouble. We'll see won't we.
