troyfrezze
Had an issue appear with one of my light switches last night that controls standard br-30 (non led or cfl) recessed bulbs in our dining room. The wife went to turn off the lights last night and although the switch showed the lower LED lit as if the switch was "off", the lights were still on. I came down to look and attempted to dim the bulbs (it's a dimmer switch), turned them off and back on and no change. I pulled out the reset and pushed it back in, let it blink up and tried again. No change. Cut the house breaker to those lights for a min and tried again, still won't turn off. Currently the only way to power down those lights is by pulling the reset tab on the top of the switch. Any thoughts here? Is this switch in need of an RMA? I've read over the following, but it doesn't appear to apply to this case as it's not an LED bulb being managed here.
RyanE
Sounds like the MOSFET that dims the lights is fried. RMA time. How large a load is that dimmer controlling? How many incandescent / halogen BR-30's? At what wattage? RyanE
troyfrezze
just 5 bulbs at 60 watts each.
RyanE
That's a pretty small load to short out the dimmer. Still figure RMA. Sorry. RyanE
