sscottroth
Has anyone experienced a ground fault when hooking up an alarm system to the C4 system with the serial cable. No ground fault before I hook it up. Once I hook it up, I get the ground fault. Any general ways to troubleshoot this? I'm not really on top of what causes this? any advice or knowledge appreciated. akg4y
Did you check the wiring between the automation module and the main panel, I would guess the problem lies there...
sscottroth
i will check that out. Do you mean the RS232 cable between the C4 system and the alarm panel? unless the insulation is broken, isn't that just a straight connection?
akg4y
No I mean the wiring between the Superbus 2000 automation module and the actual concord4 main panel.. did you do the wiring yourself or did someone else do it? sscottroth
I'm using a Ademco 4100SM to my Honeywell alarm. It says I need a DTE pinout on the computer (C4 system). Does anyone know if that is the pinout? any standard for using CAT5 for DB9 or DB25 to RJ45? thanks
sscottroth
Just some more clarity on my question. the Ademco 4100SM has the pinout from DB9 to DB25. So what I'm looking for is a mapping from the DB9 male to CAT5 and the DB25 male to CAT5. Would I be correct to assume that both sides are DTE? Any special way to terminate the RJ45 on the CAT5. I read something about crosstalk on the twisted pair. thanks for any help.
