triggy
I am looking at using this LED lighting strip in several areas of my house: http://www.edgelighting.com/products/soft_strip_3w-24v.php http://www.edgelighting.com/pdfs/edge_soft_strip_3w-24v.pdf http://www.edgelighting.com/pdfs/soft_strip_instructions/edge_soft_strip_3w-24v_inst.pdfMy lengths are 8-10 feet (28-35 Watts per strip). I am told that Control4 cannot control and/or dim this type of lighting. Is this true? Is there a workaround?
bebster
C4 can turn it on and off, just not dim it.You could run 2 strips, on 2 separate C4 switches, to give you 0%, 50%, and 100% light levels depending on whether one or both strips are on. You could switch the Lightolier dimmer that is spec'd with it, so that you can preset those light levels lower. For example dim one strip to 1/2 brightness and let the other be at full brightness. Then you get 0, 25%, and 75% light levels. You could then use a 3 button keypad with OFF, LO, HI as the lighting levels.
hunger
It appears that these are dimmable using the American National Standard E1.3 2001 (R2006) - Entertainment Technology Lighting Control Systems 0 to 10V Analog Control Specification. I would hazard a guess that there are E1.3 controllers that are controllable via EIA-232 in which case Control4 could control it.
