3fingerbrown
Perhaps I'm not the only one that thinks the $599 tuner is a bit over priced (will it even do HD radio for the $599 it costs?).I'm looking at alternatives. Has anyone tried Sony's XDR-F1HD component tuner? For $99, it is a significant cost savings. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158XDRF1HD/Sony-XDR-F1HD.html?tp=182Is there a driver for this or a similar device? I could just hook up some audio outputs to my home theater reciever, but I'd rather not limit radio use for most of the house if someone is in the theater. Also, I'm looking at outdoor antennas that get really good reception. Has anyone tried this Pixel antenna?http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=AFHD-4&mc=03&d=Pixel-AFHD4-AMFM-Outdoor-High-Definition-Radio-Antenna-(AFHD4)&sku=AFHD-4&source=googleps
thecodeman
The tuner is cool in that it does HD radio, but with IR only control you'd never get the metadata displayed on your touchpanels or tv screens. May not be a dealbreaker for you. The Control4 multituner can do AM, FM, and XM with direct channel selection & metadata feedback. I agree that it needs to be updated to include HD radio to be more compelling at that price point. Now, if you want quality, this should be what you're looking for http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/wireless_music_systems/devices/3163&cl=us,en
query
My Control 4 tuner cannot pick up AM radio in my neighborhood, no matter what antenna I try. It has been a while since the post below appeared. Is anyone awared of HD radio alternatives that will integrate with Control 4 and transmit metadata to touchpanels and TV screens? How about integration of internet radio as an alternative? kasper
I don't ever have good luck with AM radio. It seem to be the worst. AS for internet radio integration I have been doing that a lot lately. I typically use the new Denon Receivers with built in Internet radio and the use presets to make channels accessible on touch panels, mobile navigator etc.
