ILoveC4
You put your new router in place of your old one, and configure it using the software provided by the router. The HC300 doesn't care where its network connection comes from...
killiansnando
new router in place of the cable modem?
ILoveC4
A router and a modem are two seperate things, you need both. You need a modem to provide an internet connection to your ROUTER, which handles the networking needs in your home.cable modem -- router -- HC300Does that make sense? I don't understand what you're saying.
killiansnando
the wireless cable modem is upstairs in my office hooked up to my desktop. i have my hc300 on the other side of the house with no ethernet cable within 200feet of it. i have a net gear router that i was trying to hook into the hc 300 but have it all on the same internet connection. i need the cablemodem to communicate with my router to give the hc internet. is it even possible to make the router work on the same connection without it physically plugged into the modem. killiansnando
i guess what would be the easiest way to hook this all up. no ethernet hook up at all near the hc300 to join the same internet connection
dogdvr
You are talking about a wireless bridge.I am sorry but this sounds like a good time for me to refer you to a Dealer.Brent
ILoveC4
That makes more sense. What you need is a wireless bridge providing a connection between the first and second router. You need a good networking guy on this one. I know it can be done, but I can't tell you exactly how. Nobody can without knowing what hardware you're using. You need to setup the second router as a wireless access point, and bridge the two if I understand correctly. There are several good networking guys on here that will hopefully chime in. tigrzeye
And Control4 does not recommend doing a wireless bridge. At least that was the statement at Tech I classes.
