Calling iPhone 4 owners .....

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had any service degradation over the past 3 or 4 days ? The service here has gone downhill to the point my device is barely usable. Dropped calls, data failures, the device drops into searching and comes back in edge. The wife's 3GS is not exhibiting the same issues.

The device was re-registered on ATT's network and I reset my network settings. Same issue. There's been at least two other reports that I found: http://forums.wireless.att.com/t5/Apple/iPhone-4-lost-3G-signal-dropped-down-to-EDGE/m-p/1969657/highlight/false#M139713

As an aside, an interesting article:

my 3gs iPhone has had issues like your talking about for the last year. I can sit on my couch be on the road or at clients, have 5 bars and 3g service and just have my call drop. Or my favorite is when I'm on the phone and the call becomes broken up to the point that I have to hang up and call back. Another good one is the random inablity to place a call sometimes. Once again 5 bars & 3G service and I get call failed for the next 3-5 attempts to call back the person that at&t just dropped me from again!

I hate my iPhone and I am just waiting for the contract to end so that I can get rid of the piece of junk.

On a side note at&t did give me a $200 credit back in january due to the issue. I called again last month as the problem has not been corrected and was told it was a tower issue. What a load of crap! My suggestion to at&t, stop the commercials and invest in your crappy network.

^ the issue you speak of is a systemic problem across all iPhne platforms. Like I said, my wifes 3gs on IOS 3 does not exhit the same issues from the same locations at the same time.

There's more to this story that we have not been told yet IMHO.

Actually there was a news report regarding what you are talking about. It stems from how the phone calculates the signal or miscalculates i; It is described in an Apple press release (http://gizmodo.com/5578202/apple-claims-iphone-4-reception-problem-is-caused-by-incorrect-signal-display?skyline=true&s=i) and a fix is suppose to be on its way.

Here's the independent test results from Consumer Reports: http://www.macrumors.com/2010/07/12/consumer-reports-cant-recommend-iphone-4-due-to-signal-issues/

Apparently after their testing they reversed their recommendation.
