Switch install

I understand using keypad easier, however still want to know if it is possible?

Can a switch and a dimmer be installed in a room to control the same light?

Will the dimmer still function as a dimmer?

Can a switch be installed so that it functions only as a 2 button? I.e. Not load bearing....

Depends on the wiring in place. Only the dimmer would need to be wired to control the light and for the switch you just need a hot, ground and neutral, cap off the load wire from the switch. Advanced properties uncheck buttons attached and it will no longer turn the load on/off. Switches can only be linked to keypads so you would then need to program the switch to turn the light on/off etc and some additional programming to turn off it's own load even though there will be none on it for the times that it does come on. I have done this in rooms where I had a switch controlling an oulet, I removed the load, rewired the outlets so they are always hot and used wireless outlet dimmers with lamps then some programming, had I not been in a rush an thought about it I would have used keypads, and plan on switching them out to keypads. Your answer is yes but I still say use keypads :)
