C4-HC300C-E-B Audio Out

I'm going through the process of pulling and terminating wiring for my C4 implementation, and will be using 2x the C4-HC300C-E-B controllers. The audio out on the controllers - is it amplified, or is it line/pre-amp level?

I ask because I am running the speaker wire and it's currently 18awg wire to 4 locations.

I'm planning on using the C4-8AMP1-B 4 Zone Amp as well - but can I use the RCA outputs on the HC300s to get a couple of extra zones without having to move up to the 8 zone amp (understanding that I won't be able to matrix the output from the HC300)? I'd obviously have to terminate the 18awg wire with RCA connectors...

Line powered. You need to plug them into an amp to power the speakers.
