What's the USB drive in a Home Theater Controller used for?

Recommended Posts

I thought I hit pay dirt when I went on a Craigslist run to buy a box of PC and electronic parts tonight.

What I found amongst some old motherboards, power supplies, satellite boxes, and cable boxes was a Control4 Home Theater Control4 model #AVM-HTC1-B. There was no remote, just the controller and luckily the power cord.

I powered it up but nothing come on at all. I opened it up and didn't see any burn marks on the board, and no real signs of any of the caps swelling from over heating. Didn't smell any burned electronic, just musk and dust.

I was wondering about the USB drive that is attached to the board from the inside. What was that used for, on board memory?

I'm going to tinker with it for awhile to see if I can kick start it.

Thanks,

David
