C4 Wireless Thermostat with electric underfloor heating in UK.

Hi

I am about to install a 230/240v electric underfloor heating system in my en-suite (http://www.warmup.co.uk/uk-loose-wire-system.phtml).

Can someone tell me if the C4 Wireless Thermostat will be able to work with this type of heating system?

Will any under tile probe work with the Thermostat (like http://www.heatmisershop.co.uk/epages/Heatmiser.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Heatmiser/Products/%22Misc%20103%22)?

The C4 Thermostat Datasheet mentions 24VAC, does this mean I need a transformer?

Is there a better way to do this as I just want to control (timer, ON/OFF, etc) the floor heating in the en-suite and nothing else (with central control via the HC).

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Nin

I have not done this, but if you just want a timer and on/off features, maybe you can just use a c4 switch which will be about half the cost and and arguably more practical in this application because it is not the type of heating you want to turn on and off based on the room temp every 20 minutes or so.

You could then have a schedule in composer to turn on in the mornings to heat the bathroom and turn off automatically..

Many thanks for your reply.

I would need a thermostat so the heating turns off when a selected temperature is achieved. A simple switch would mean the heating continues even though the tiles have reached a comfortable temperature.

I think the C4 thermostat is the way forward assuming it works with this scenario.

Any more ideas please?

I'm not sure the c4 stat will work, you need to look at the wiring options on the stat and get the heating manufacturer or reseller to confirm. I can send you a stat PDF if you email me.

The c4 stat does have an external connection for a temp probe, and works on the stat temp or the probe temp, but not both( is my understanding) c4 recommend a probe which they oem for walls not sure if it is suitable for under tiles or if the one you list will work.

Another idea if the above does not work, just put a switch or card access in line with the power and the basic temp dial from your website above or link below. Just certify your currents are within spec of the switches. http://www.heatmisershop.co.uk/epages/Heatmiser.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Heatmiser/Products/DS1-E
