winneric1234
I am building a shop/garage and I want a tv mounted with in ceiling surround sound. As far as prewire goes to integrate it into my current control 4 system I know cat 5 needs to be ran but how bout speaker wire would it need to be ran to the control 4 server hub? Whats the best way to do this.
ichbinbose
wire your tv and surround as you normally would, to the location in which your surround sound gear will be located. You will need a cat5e line ran from your network switch to the gear location as well for an additional switch for a controller, the blu ray, receiver & maybe the TV as well. ILoveC4
Run a conduit. You'll be glad you did.
ichbinbose
Run a conduit. You'll be glad you did.this is always a great idea! Also make it as large as you can, you just never know what else you may need to add in the future.
winneric1234
So when you say a switch, I could have a network switch in the panel of my garage with all of the components going into it video, audio, security camera running into it and a single cat5 out to my main control 4 hub in the house???? ichbinbose
yes a switch can be added in the garage off of the main house switch (make sure you have high quality switchs of course), and then you would hook up any gear that has a network connection to that switch. Be sure to spec in a CA relay to help bridge the gap between the house and the garage as well, although the distance between them may also require you to create a seperate zigbee mesh just for the garage.
