Hi, I am looking for some advice with a fault with a C4-16S2-E-B.
It is connected to two Denon 8 channel amps, and has been fault free for around 9 years. In the last month, intermittently, there will be a very loud hum through all channels. At the same time the display will not appear when the bug button is pushed. Some time later the display will work and audio works fine. I now turn the power amps off, and check if the display works before using it.
Does this sound like a power supply fault or a failing internal component? My dealer says this has been seen before, but since it's a very discontinued product C4 will not look at it.
I'm feeling that this is probably a simple repair in qualified hands, but am not aware of any UK repair service for C4 products. I would be comfortable swapping out the power supply with a reasonable set of instructions, and found this thread -
but I would need to know suitable parts available in the UK. Can anyone advise please?
Replacing it would mean the Triad 24 channel matrix, but I am reluctant to invest in more capacity that we don't need and have no need for better SQ. My dealer would allow me to run a second hand C4-16ZAMSV3-B with support caveats, which would be considerably cheaper in the short term, but a repair to the C4-16S2-E-B could well be even cheaper.
