  1. Hello Elvis,

I just read a comment you had made about the Wink Hub for lighting -and other features, and was hoping you could expand on that a touch for me.  I'm brand new to the C4 world, in fact my system has not yet been installed in the new home I am building.  I really purchased the system primarily for whole home video and audio distribution, along with to a lesser extent the automation infrastructure.

After stumbling across some Z waver dimmers at Lowes, I recently discussed adding some lighting features to the system with my dealer, thinking it would be nice to integrate some dimmers in the main living areas as well as some switches for the "Christmas light" outlets I've put in the eves of the house and other exterior lighting.  But was a bit deflated by the prices he quoted me for the c4 switches & dimmers.  I did ask if the GE Zwave pieces I had seen could be integrated, and he pretty well led me to understand that they could not.  -Or at least that was my "take" from the conversation.

But after reading your description of adding the Wink hub, it is sounding more like this is possible -perhaps I was not really asking him the right question...

Anyway, sorry for the long introduction here, cutting to the chase, I was hoping you could elaborate a little as to what your experience is with adding the wink hub. As I read your description it seemed to me that your experience has been that by interrogating the wink hub you are able to control your lighting both with the Control 4 remote as well as with the wink app.  It also seemed to me that you may have eluded to the fact that other things you have added to the wink app end up passing through to your control 4 system. Or, would you still need a dealer to come out and program these into control 4 each time you add a new device to wink?  I believe you also suggested that with Wink hub interrogated you were able to incorporate "scenes" that including both Wink components (lights) as well as C4 components (music). -Is that correct?

I'd be very interested in anything you have to share on this subject.  Particularly what the "pitfalls" have been.  Long (longer) delays in the lighting response time?  Odd quirks? Reliability issues?

I'm a believer in the adage, "if it is to good to be true..." however from the sound of it, what you are doing with the Wink seems to be very much what I'm looking for.  I'd very much like the ability to add things here and there when the mood strikes (without the added expense of having a dealer come out every time I want to add a small device).

Thanks for your time, sorry this turned into such a long message.  Any advice  you can supply would be greatly appreciated.
