Ok great. I have yet to get some love from my dealer to get to OS3.0+ before I can enjoy this. For sure I reckon that C4 wouldn't be actively developing this as there's a group of users looking for that extra flexibility without the external dependency. And yes, I'd agree it's two systems serving very different target markets.

I'm building up a Home Assistant instance and love it. Long time C4 user but the dependency on a dealer doesn't work for me - anymore. I love the C4 matrix amp and have full control over it from HA - thanks to another user who built a custom integration for it. You made the point "It will control all of your C4 lights and switches (there's an integration that takes 30 seconds to install by clicking a UI button)". Are you talking about the official C4 integration on home assistant (i.e. https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/control4/)?

I have a 4x4 C4 amp and run out of zones. Rather than throwing away from 4x4 and buy an expensive 16x16 amp could I get a second 4x4 and integrate this into the system? My constraint is outputs not necessarily inputs.
