ELV dimmers

Aside from only being rated to 600 watts vs 1000, is there any downside or reason not to use the ELV dimmer? Even if the load is, for the time being, incandescent bulbs?

its not rated for magnetic or inductive loads................incandesent are resistive loads, but never tried it.

I don't really understand why this product exists (my bad). I have a myriad of LV fixtures each with their own xformer. Standard dimmer works just fine. I also have 10s of LED step and up lights and the xformer supplying those works fine off of a switch.

switch is not an issue................and what type of xformer do your LV fixtures have?........my guess would be magnetic

^Yeah, probably. So what though? I have some pretty trick lighting and it works with nothing special.

well..if you had lets say...recessed ltg with electronic ballasts.......then you would need the ELV dimmer...as an example

i also had LED rope ltg. that would not dim properly with a std C4 dimmer.........ELV dimmer worked ...so it has its uses.

I don't know- I bought my lighting when I built my house and all recessed LV works fine on a standard dimmer. I don't dim on LED ropes or step lights so forget what I said there.
