RcNorth
I have an HC-300 running 2.1.1 with a USB drive for the media. Recently I cannot make any changes to the media. I can't scan, delete files, rename playlists, add items to playlists. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know 2.1.1 is fairly old and I do have 2.5.2 that I could upgrade to, but I'm not sure if upgrading would fix the problem, or not. Also, I'm not sure how well 2.5.2 will run on the HC.-300. Cyknight
Actually you'd go 2.5.3 and yes the HC300 would run it - not much better or worse than 2.1.1 I don't see it fixing the problem though - most common reason that you lose that ability is a corrupt mm.db file - or a bad USB drive/connection. Try puting a usb stick in instead, see if you can add media then - if s-, it's the drive (more likely to be the mm.db file though)
RcNorth
Thanks, Cyknight. It currently is a USB stick that I am using, and I have reformatted it, so I would guess it is the mm.db. Is there any way to rebuild the mm.db file? Or possibly delete it from the OS and have the system recreate it?
Cyknight
rebuild - not that I'm aware of - yo can certainly delete it, and the system WILL create a new one on reboot - however, all info is lost (it's your media meta data database). Some, including myself have had success, exporting the media list (right click on the usb location under media), doing the delete (should be on the forums here somewhere) , reboot and reload - but note that this CAN casue you to simply import the error. ALWAYS back-up!
RcNorth
So I took a copy of the mm.db file and deleted the file using my Windows 10 machine. I then restarted the HC-300, but it never created a new mm.db file. I was going to copy the old one back but the HC-300 is not visible from my Windows machine, and when I try to copy it from my Mac it says that there is no free space. I was able to access the machine through the terminal and look a look at the /var/log/alerts.log file and I see the following Sep 24 14:12:00 home-controller-300-000FFF140D14 kernel: [42949486.280000] DSPLINK Module (1.61.03) created on Date: Aug 5 2011 Time: 11:25:46 Sep 24 14:12:38 home-controller-300-000FFF140D14 [2272]: MediaManager: Error Loading Database File /control4/db/mm.db.
