nevets23
All, I noticed a couple weeks ago that one of the tvs hooked up to my Control4 Leaf 4k 6x6 matrix is at random times having issues. Intermittently/very randomly, the picture on the tv will go out for a split second, and then come back. It's extremely quick and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it happens more than others, The tv is hooked up to a leaf 4k balun. I've switched the hdmi cord from the balun to the tv and the cat6 cable from the wall jack to the balun, but it's still happening. The other four televisions hooked up to the matrix work completely fine/don't have this problem. I'm guessing my next step should be switching out the balun on the tv having the issue with one on a tv that is not having an issue. Maybe the balun is going bad? I'm 99% sure the cat6 cable from the matrix to the balun is good, and I have a "good" status connection in composer, so I'm really not sure what is happening. I have also tried recalibrating the matrix, but the same issue occurs. Anyone have this happen before, know how to fix it, or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance! thegreatheed
Try to switch the balun. That's an easy troubleshooting step that won't cause any issues. It's 50% an issue with the balun or an issue with the Cat 6 in the wall/bad termination/etc.

I'm still under warranty, so if it turns out to be bad, I should be good. I don't think it's the cat6 in the wall, only b/c I hadn't had any issues until just recently....seems like it would have been a problem previously, but maybe not. I just hope it's not the matrix switch itself. Still under warranty with that too, but much more of a headache to get swapped out. Thanks,
thegreatheed
It absolutely sounds like it could be the cable in the wall. Do not rule it out.
nevets23
Just now, thegreatheed said: It absolutely sounds like it could be the cable in the wall. Do not rule it out. You think more likely than the matrix switch being the issue?
thegreatheed
It's possible for a single port to have issues on the switch, but it's more often cabling/baluns that go bad.
BraydonH
When the video drops for a single second is someone in another room of the house turning on a display? I have seen HDMI products drop when adding new displays to certain systems.
