Not in Bell IPTV country but they use the same hardware here - it's syill got an IR receiver built in, and for Telus at least it uses the exact same IR codes as the other boxes

(I'm on Bell Fibe with the VIP5662W)

So which driver did you go with?  I have tried the Bell Fibe and the U-Verse Plus drivers but to no avail.  Also not sure that the VIP5662W is in IR mode.  Thoughts/comments on how to verify IR mode and what IR driver to use will be muchly appreciated!

Any chance you could upload an image of where your IR repeater is located on the box to be sure I'm lined up correctly?
