spl147 Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 i took the mts apart there is 2 usb ports inside......what are they for?
ILoveC4 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Spl, I have no idea how many are in there because I don't take my gear apart. I know one of them is for a dealer to perform a restore. I hope you understand the ramifications of both buying on ebay and taking the equipment apart.
ILoveC4 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I'd be surprised if you can find a dealer to either install or troubleshoot that device.
spl147 Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 its only 5 screws..........no biggie..........
ILoveC4 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Spl, who's doing your setup and install? Do they know you are furnishing third party purchased gear?
PeterM1 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 why all the drama? I'm sure the OP understands there's no warranty through eBay purchases. It's a risk some people are willing to take. Most of the times it works, sometimes it doesn't. Limit your $ exposure based on your financial situation.OP, just return it to the seller for refund, it's a DOA item. If the seller does not cooperate, file a claim with eBay. Eventually you'll recover (most of) your funds. Good Luck.
spl147 Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 still wondering what the 2 usb ports are for?
PeterM1 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 It's for booting off the recovery USB stick and restoring the MTS.
ILoveC4 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Does the PoE work with other devices? Maybe the PoE injector is bad.
spl147 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 dunno......only have 1 poe device and 1 poe driver
ILoveC4 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Man...after reading this thread and your thermostat thread it makes me feel better about being gunshy on eBay purchases. How much cash have you laid out for useless gear now?$2,000?
spl147 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 LOL......no biggie........everyone i bought from is willing to take the stuff back for exchange or refund.........so....np........
RyanE Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Other than you're likely out shipping both ways.RyanE
ronbowalker Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Anyone interested in the field of electronics should begin their "schooling" with a Multimeter. It will become your best friend if you want to continue buying used components. Some people scoff at the thought of buying someone elses problems. And then there are those of us that have learned to revitalize components instead of filling the landfills with them.
