Binary Video Martrix faulty port?

I have a Binary B-500-MTRX-230-8X8.  I believe one the ethernet ports is failing.  The video signal to the TV using that port always starts just fine but after anywhere from 1-10 minutes, the video begins to sporatically come and go.  I have checked the integrity of the ethernet cable and the RJ45 ends at both ends the cable.  All that looks good.  I have also tested the B500 reciever (this converts the ethernet input to an HDMI output which then connects to the HDMI input on the TV).  All good.  Lastly, I confirmed that the HDMI input on the impacted TV is functioning as it should.  Audio is provided via a seperate audio matrix and it works just fine.  All this leads me to the conclusion that the sporatic signal is the consequence of a port on the video matrix going bad.

When the system was installed (nearly ten years ago), my C4 installer connected some of my TVs to the video matrix using using an ethernet cable.  The video feed to some of the other TVs on my system are connected using one of the HDMI ports on the video matrix.  While I don't have an unocuppied ethernet port on the matrix (they are all being used to feed a video signal to other TVs on my system), I do have several unused HDMI ports.  My thinking is that using an ethernet to HMDI adapter, I could use an open HDMI port to provide the video feed in place of the faulty ethernet port.

I am looking for some input on a couple of points.  First, is my notion of using an open HDMI output on the video matrix (in place of what I believe is faulty ethernet output) a viable fix?  If so, does any know if I need to have my C4 provider do anything to "activate" the change from using an ethernet output to a HDMI output or, can I simply plug a HDMI to ethernet adapter  into an open HDMI output on the video matrix and expect it to work?

Thanks in advance for any feedback or ideas.

You're right on the money. I suspect you're LIKELY right in that the port is failing, and yes you can just get a hdbaseT transmitter/receiver set and use the MATCHING HDMI out instead, and nothing needs changing form a system perspective.

Many thanks for your quick reply.  It was very helpful and much appreciated.  If you have a suggestion for brand/model of a hdbaseT transmitter/receiver, I'd value your input.  I am still very much at the beginning of the learning curve when it comes to this technology.  Thanks again.
