Video sense question

Recommended Posts

Detecting the presence or absence of a video signal. Example, you want to be able to insert a disk in you DVD and have the system turn on and start playing the video you could use video sense to determine that you manually turned on the DVD and inserted a disk. The C4 system would see that the DVD was turned on because it could sense video output and then turn on the rest of your components. Basically you could pop a disk in your DVD and heave the entire system turn on without ever touching a remote control.

This is used a lot with the Nintendo Wii. You can turn the Wii on with the Wii mote, and if you have it hooked up to video sense you can have Control4 realize the Wii is on, and automatically turn on all the proper components (as Alan stated).

If you're going to use Video Sense with component, use the green cable.

So how would you connect a blu-ray player to the video sense of an HC300? I'm assuming there needs to be some programming to get the other components turned on (i.e. receiver, projector/TV, lights, etc) on top of the cables that need to be run between the player and the controller.

The component cable on the bluray player output would connect to the input on the HC300, and the output would go to the display/receiver/switch. The HC300 is basically just added in between.

Then, you can base programming around when the HC300 senses video. It will be easy. Something like "When Video is sensed IF Theater source IS NOT Bluray, select Bluray as video source in the theater". Then control4 will turn on all the appropriate devices to make sure that source is showing up.

Sorry that isn't formatted properly, but hopefully it makes sense. It is late, and I am going to bed.

it could also be used for devices that do not have discrete on and off commends. this way if you have "house off" button everthing will always go off.

c4 should remember state of your device but power audit could get equipment out of sink.
