Such as?  Regardless of anything "going on" this is not the way to treat a customer.

Also, this is not industry standard.  None of the other driver sites have had any issues moving my drivers.

Does your new dealer have an account with BlackWire? If so, they should be in touch with them, not you, the homeowner. If they do not, they will have to get an account first even if the key would be changed. BlackWire is a wholesale distributor and doesn't work with end-users on support issues.

If I create a legacy 802.11b network - will it still communicate with main network. The device is tied into C4. Still need it to communicate.

Yeah, it will. It's just an SSID that only runs on the 2.4ghz radio for old crap and crap that has a terrible wifi card. This is seen often with Jandy iAqualink or weird workout machines, etc. All of my gear is running fine off a single SSID on both 2.4/5ghz on the R850.

If your dealer got the Ruckus kit from BlackWire, they are really helpful in troubleshooting these type of things and have a dedicated network engineer on staff.

It is weird.  Our dealer is coming out next week to take a look but I'm thinking a C4 doorbell should be more reliable.

This is really quite simple to test.

If you half-hearted push the button, does it trigger the announcement in the Ring App? If yes, and if the programming is done correctly, every time it will trigger the Control4 programming.

If you half-hearted push the button, and it does not trigger the announcement in the Ring app, then there is something either wrong with the button or how you're pushing it. I'd recommend contacting Ring to get a replacement.

I tried contact Snap as well but they told me Houselogix is no more and they cannot help me. So what happens with the licenses that we bought last year, do we have to buy again through BlackWire effectively buying twice.

    Seems a little wrong.

Yes. Houselogix/SnapAV is not BlackWire. If you bought TV from DirecTV and they closed, you wouldn't be able to use that hardware at Dish Network.

The more I think about it, I’m pretty sure I can access my office from home with no special license. I believe you enable it at the unleashed platform website. I’ll play around with it when I have time.

No additional license or software is required for remote access. You can use the free Unleashed app on iOS/android devices to manage a wifi network whether on site or remotely - you just have to register the site to a free Ruckus account. No port forwarding, etc.

    Hi,

I was thinking (maybe incorrectly) that if you buy a Ruckus WAP Unleashed the controller software / license was included with the WAP (and embedded in the cost).   I read somewhere that you still need to purchase a site license that allows up to 25 WAPs.   Can someone please clarify what the rough cost of this site license is?   Is it a one time purchase or an annual fee that needs to be paid?

    Thanks!

When you buy Ruckus unleashed, there's no other software required to operate the APs. You can optionally buy a 1, 3, or 5 year support license that covers the APs at that one physical location. There is no hardware or software controller for Unleashed - one unit becomes the "master". The support licenses are a one-time purchase.

    Disclaimer: I sell Ruckus

I have a large JAP system currently. My sources include multiple roku (Netflix, Amazon Prime, crave,...), directv, local cable boxes. I'm currently limited to 4k30 by jap. Whenever I watch one of my backed up 4k60 uhd hdr discs my server has to transcode down to 4k30. Half the time I have to go and fiddle with the roku direct stream options to get it to work. I'm building a new unraid server with a p2000 so transcoding won't be an issue.

However, after watching a title I notice that the colours are off in the menu...more red. Then I go to watch another title and it doesn't work. Stuck on 13%. I have to reset the roku. Obviously something is happening with the jap video codec where the plex/roku doesn't reset after the first movie back to default.

So I went looking and found https://wyrestorm.com/NHD-600-TX

This is HD over ip 10G and I'm already using cat7a and. Cisco 10g switches. This says it can do full 4k60 hdr and atmos. Has anyone used these yet? I wonder how to take the feed and downmix a second audio stream for the matrix... ie when want to watch atmos in one zone but play additional 2 channel audio in the adjoining room.

Use something like HD fury vertex 2 https://www.hdfury.com/product/4k-vertex2-18gbps/ to split the output from roku into two streams.

I'm stuck thinking about where the avr would go in the chain. I need the roku available on two avr zones and 8 non-avr zones simultaneously.

    Roku --> vertex --> 1. AVR ---> hdip tx (4k atmos zone)

--> 2. HDIP tx (4k 2 channel zones) with audio into matrix (need to down mix atmos to 2 channel)

I think this fails as it doesn't include my other avr as a simultaneous feed. Yes, sometimes we have people watching the same roku feed in multiple mixed zones - sometimes both atmos zones and sometimes atmos zone plus 2 channel zone). All TV are 4k60

Although I may just say screw it and wait for HDMI 2.1 HD over IP solutions as I don't want to  buy distribution equipment for a third time.

You should know that there are only 2 movies actually shot and presented at a high frame rate (4K60) - Billy Lynns Long Halftime Walk and Gemini Man. Outside of these 2 and any content you create yourself with a camcorder, all 4K Blu-ray movies are going to be 4K 24FPS and most likely 4:2:0 10 bit color. 4K60 4:4:4 10 and 4K 60 4:4:4 12 actually require higher bandwidth than HDMI 2 can deliver at 20 and 24gb respectively. 18GB is the current limit.  HDMI 2.1 will be needed to take advantage of that. So, J+P isn't handicapping you as they accept and display 4K30 4:2:0 10 bit which covers all broadcast and media except those 2 movies today OR if you're a PC gamer and want/need the higher color bit rate (but you wont be gaming through a distribution system anyway). When it comes to 8K distribution, as you mentioned HDMI 2.1 will be needed - along with something to watch.

I'm presuming that you're using the Roku and having an issue with it's video output and it might be set on automatic. I'd force the roku output to be 4K 30 4:2:0. Just Add Power can accept 4k60 but its going to convert that to 4k30. Your tv will be turning it back into 4k60 again as its a 60hz native set - just like it does when you feed it 4k30 video or 4k24 movies.

And if you have an atmos zone, you need to have an HDMI device in line that can pass the atmos through on hdmi as well as downmix it to 2CH stereo. This is one of the only devices on the market that will do that. https://www.avproedge.com/ac-avdm-auhd.html

Most folks though will do a dedicated source to the AVR atmos zone as it is cheaper and they arent likely to need simultaneous theater zone + kitchen zone. In your case with the need for a single source feeding 2 atmos zones and 2CH audio zone, you have some work ahead of you but it is possible.

  8. Houselogix has been dead since SnapAV bought them. I wouldn't worry too much about them being mad that someone else write a driver that they dont support or really sell anymore.

    >0.0% chance that someone at control4 gets bored and brings those into the fold, though unlikely imo.

    Good luck, have fun.

  9. Or just don't use the LU switches if you need scaling or other features they don't offer. AVPro Edge matrix switches like the AC-MX888-AUHD-GEN2 have the ability for you to set passthrough for 4K60 444 or to turn on a scaler for that output to downscale to 1080p.

Sorry about that, I stand corrected.  Forgot about the digital coax inputs.  I haven't used them before in that fashion...can you use both the digital coax input and the same hdmi input number at the same time?  or is it one or the other?

You can use them at the same time. Common use example would be HDMI coming from Directv into hdmi input 1 and digital coax from an EA controller into digital coax input 1.

The audio input on the digital coax is only routed to the analog audio out on the leaf, it's not getting mixed in with the hdmi video or sent down the balun as digital coax.

And nothing will over 50ft HDMIs

There are a few different options of going past 50' with HDMI cables. For example, these BulletTrain HDMIs support 4k 60 4:4:4 HDR 18GB up to 40m/131'. They aren't cheap but with hdmi you get what you pay for in a lot of cases.

Tributaries is another great brand making HDMI cables that pass all current specs at distances up to 40m as well.

well this isnt about iOS vs android at this point, but the last paragraph made me chuckle after reading the headline

"As for the types of issues affecting Android handsets, one could reasonably argue that they’re more serious than the types of failures affecting iOS devices. To this point, the most common points of failure for Android devices involved USB issues, carrier signal issues, camera problems and battery charging difficulties and screen abnormalities."

I'm actually having problems as well... I've also got an EA5 and tried adding the Control4 Pandora Driver and when double clicking on it to enter login credentials (or accessing it from Navigators) I get the following error: "Unable to connect to Pandora.  This is potentially due to a network error.  Please check the system's internet connection and try again."

I can't configure the log in information from any location.  Anybody else seeing this?

Hey Terry. When I tested this Saturday for the OP, I was on my phone and it pushed me right to the login credentials, which I was able to enter and save through the C4 App on the phone. Are you using the phone app or touchscreens? What software version is your system on?

I realize this post is old, but hopefully someone can respond because I'm having issues with DIRECTV. RAV - You mentioned here that the DIRECTV clients can use IP control. When I switched to the Genie 2, I had to have all the clients changed to IR control since the clients connected to the Genie 2 do not have their own IP address. It's very odd because sometimes they do, but most of the time they have a link local IP address, which is how they communicate with the Genie 2. Are you saying that it's possible to use IP control for the clients on a Genie 2 system?

IR repeaters had to be setup on all of my clients, and one of my clients just stopped responding to IR repeater. It's been working fine for months, but about 2 weeks ago, one of my clients completely stopped responding to the IR repeater. It still responds to the IR remote control, just not the IR repeater. I need to either switch back to the HR54, where they can all be setup for IP control or I need to switch to Dish or some other provider. If you have a Genie 2 and are able to control the clients using IP control, please let me know how this works. I would greatly appreciate it.

I would switch to Dish, it's night and day. But a disclaimer, I have it at my house and also am a Dish Concierge installer and have switched about 10-12 accounts from DTV in the last 8 months. DTV has gone downhill since AT&T bought them.
