Jackstone. Does your company/supplier have any product similar to this? https://www.clarolux.com/uploads/1428859361GM100-TB(800x800).jpg
I'm looking for spots pointed at the top half of my house from a small roof overhang halfway up.

The Wireless Wall Washer we sell the most often look like this one (see picture). It's IP67 and is fine running outdoor.
It has built-in wireless DMX but support also wired DMX either as input or output. So you can buy one wireless washer and daisy chain other wired DMX lights via the output cable, or use all wireless washer around the house and they will all communicate with the main DMX Engine wirelessly using a cheap dongle.
How much do you sell that for? That's probably overkill for me. And maybe I just need a few wired spots.

I replaced all my current landscape lighting with RGBW wall washers (from Jackstone of course) and I don't have to switch anything when I do holiday lights (xmas, halloween, 4th of july, etc) I just set them to WW when its a normal day.
Cam you link the product you used?
-
Been moving along on this and think I have a flexible framework that I can expand on. Looking to pick up some RGB spotlights or wall washers to color my house for the holiday. Cam you recommend a light/enclosure. And give me an idea of coverage and range.
-
This is not the preferred method of support
-
What kind of serial cable do I need for the engineering solutions box? I notice it has a female connector.
-
Yes you need a decoder that support the specific control chip on the strip, you need a robust quality decoder because it'll have to drive a whole bunch of light simultaneously.
China decoder does not produce good result from what I've tried.
Sounds good. I'll shelf this and use it later when I have a better idea of what I'm doing.
-
Ok that makes sense. Do you need a channel for every led on a pixel strip? Do you need a special decoder for pixels?
-
Possibly. Mind explaining the difference
-
Does anyone know the pinouts for RGB LED strips. It looks like at the end of the strip there is 3 pads. Voltage ground and data. Do I connect all channels from my decoder to data?
-
A few questions. It looks like the wireless transmitter/receiver is sold as a pair. In the event one is purchased and another transmitter is required later. Is it difficult to add an additional? Do they need to be paired etc?
Also. I have to connect two 5m pixel led strips together. I'd like to link the channels but I don't have a 12v power supply with enough wattage for 10m of continuous strip without dropoff. Can I connect a different 12v power supply to both strips. But still connect the channels to each other?
-
ok maybe a better question would be what ga wire is required for a longer run of this?
-
this all makes sense, what are you guys using for wire?
-
Had some time to get more into this, Curious what you guys are using for power supplies? How many devices can you hook up to a single power supply? additionally, what is the cabling recommendation for 3-4 channel lights + power, to outdoor locations.
-
I would think the standard troubleshooting process applies here. Contact your dealer
-
You can likely get more info from composer.log

That helps alot. I guess my question is more along the lines of. If your setup required more horsepower than the engineering solutions box. What's the next step. A completely standalone DMX system where hopefully you can base basic instructions to via c4. And have all the processing done outside of c4. Just asking if that exists. Realize the red box is strong enough for most household needs.

Some effects shown in this video could be done on a Control4 system controlling a DMX pixel LED strip, but not all. Pixel LED need heavy computing power to be driven and Control4 is meant to be a home automation system and can't replace a lighting console or a real computer.
that being said, there is still a lot of effect that can be done with Control4, DMX and some LED, and new effect requests are always welcome. We are currently working of a new version of the DMX driver that will bring mainly enhancement of what is already done but we will be happy to add new feature, request of function on request.
So is the proper way to manage DMX through a seperate lighting controller(computer). Is there any plans for a driver in the future that would pass information to a lighting controller as a middleman instead of going directly to DMX? Does that already exist? If you wanted to have a stand alone machine. What is recommended? Both spec wise and software wise.

All really great info! thanks guys,
A few more questions as I plan to map this out.
Jackstone: When you say "we carry" are you referring to houselogix? or does your company sell DMX fixtures directly?
cybuch: That sounds great, I'm pretty comfortable with what you described, some basic questions.
Do you only need one DMX Engine or Transmitter per project? Is there limitations to one?
Does it make sense to run power, transmitter, and decoder all in the same spot, and just run the end point 6-7 line wire to the lights? Is there a limitation on distance here?
Is there a limitation on distance for the daisy chain of decoders? Thinking It might make sense for me to run a few decoders out of my basement, and then once daisy chain cat6 to my upstairs to support another handful of decoders for the top half of the house.
Does it make sense to source DMX lights with built in decoders, or to stay with "dumb" lights and purchase seperate decoders.
All great info, thanks so much.

If the movies are stored somewhere on the network the bandwidth to the kodi box could be limited when transferring the movie. The driver uses network commands and a Bluetooth mouse is local. Can you copy a movie to the kodi box and then try?

I have some questions as someone that is new to DMX and low voltage lighting in general. With Christmas season just around the corner, I've been looking for a solution to light up my house. My wife is a decorating NUT, and she asks me to put up lights for Halloween (currently on the house) we'll leave those on through thanksgiving, and then change over to Christmas. After reading through this post, I'm thinking that maybe it would be better to source some more permanant outdoor DMX lights, that I could leave there all year long, and just change the colors to suit the holidays, save me from climbing on a ladder 4-6 times a year. Is DMX overkill for this type of solution? Is this financially a terrible decision?
Being that DMX is pretty standard, there seems to be a TON of availability around components, (controllers/decoders,etc). Additionally, i've taken a look at some outdoor rated rope light and LED strips on ebay. Can someone assist me in sourcing outdoor rated DMX programmable lights in the US? I need to get an idea on the costs of this stuff and whether this conversion would be feasible. I've seen strips of 5m weatherproof LEDs on ebay going for around $100, they say they have built in decoders and not required. I'm not sure how that works.
Any info would be usable to me. If I'm going down the wrong path, that is fine too. Just let me know.

Yeah OK. Sure. I'm not a moron.. I was just asking if it's possible (or beneficial) or even desirable to use two full drivers in the one project (with all the sub drivers) that's all. It's not even clear if it can be done. Cheers
Yeah. I run that config you are describing above

speaking as someone who purchased the lite version of this driver fairly recently, will there be an upgrade path for this from lite?
A good RGB LED Control solution for Control4 is there
