Okay.  Sorry if I was not being clear. I am going to make myself clear.

His rate seems $125 an hour. So 8 hour job for running wires through the channel and also installing 4 overhead atmos speakers. Currently these  4 may either be monitor in ceiling or martin logan in ceiling.

I again don't feel his costs are off, but distribution is off. I am worried to get screwed with a bad C4 job. With C4 you may not know job quality as well, until i put that too paces.

Right now weather is good and I want this job done in March.

    Cheers

$125 and hour may be a little steep, but that all is market/region dependent. Sure, you can rush through installing in-ceiling speakers, but it's best to at least figure 30 minutes a speaker to make sure everything is done properly.  So figure 2 hours in labor for the 4 speakers alone, another hour or two for the speaker wire, then termination, cleanup, etc.  From an estimating standpoint you're looking at a day's labor.

From the C4 standpoint the most important thing he (your dealer) needs to be aware of is your network.  If you've got a solid and reliable network, setting up a single room with an EA-3 (or EA-1), with the equipment you listed, isn't going to take a whole lot of time.

At the end of the day, you've got a room with a Kaleidescape system and some nice equipment, so don't short change the room on control or the Atmos install.

  2. The other added benefit of the EA3 and EA5 is better High Resolution Audio support.

1k to just "wire" the speakers? That is absolutely insane. I too recommend to go with the EA3. The big thing that isn't being mentioned here is the different amount of zones you can control. Granted even if you want only one room at the moment, you would have the freedom to add additional zones at anytime. If you are tight on a budget the EA1 will suffice, but I would personally future proof. It's not that big of a cost difference. The rest of the quote looks fine but I agree the programming time is low. I would take the deal but request a free one hour visit if something isn't working correctly.

Our Kodi Full driver does not utilise Control4's media management.  As such it is not effected by larget movie library sizes.  Meta data including images is processed on the fly and in small portions as you navigate through the list.  Eg if you have 10,000 movies it will (depending on the navigator user interface) go from 0-50, 50-100, 100-150 or 0-20, 20-40, 40- 80, etc etc.

Nothing is stored.  Images are sent to Navigator as a direct URL for navigator to grab from Kodi itself.

Thanks.  The way you are handling images sound like a better way of handling them.  I wish C4 would consider taking a similar approach.

    Hi

Does anyone have problems with OSD delay ? - when I press a button on my remote it sometimes takes 3-5s until I see a reaction on the Kodi OSD/GUI. After I reboot my HC it instant again for like 2 weeks, then things start to go slower and slower from there

How many movies, shows, music, etc. do you have?

I've wondered why C4 embeds thumbnail images into the XML media lists as opposed to referencing individual jpg images, and have wondered if that causes delay in processing.  Alan, does C4 extract those images upon import or on the fly?

  5. The JSON-RPC does not allow for you to fire key presses unfortunately.  If HD Homerun is supported as a PVR backend on Kodi then it will be compatible with our upcoming mini driver for Kodi Full.  Heres a sneak peak.

Thanks.  I'm not sure if the Homerun app is supported as a PVR backend or not.  I guess the only way to get around it would be to have IR support built into the Kodi driver, to accommodate the IR remotes you can add to Kodi.

It's not that I plan on using the Raspberry as a PVR, it'll mostly be use for movie playback, but the Homerun app works pretty well and can act as a nice backup with the wife and kids have tied up the 4 Comcast boxes.   With the Raspberry on the HDMI matrix, I'd be able to use it for TV as well.

Great work though on the app.  Thanks.
