  1. Thanks for letting me know and I'm glad they are working on it I am forever baffled by how poor C4 products are, especially considering the price. Anyways, I appreciate the forum being here to help!
  2. I've been having issues getting video to show when I manually call my c4 doorstation DS2 from my control4 app (android). Here are the results from my diagnosis. Even though the screen is black, I can still use it to manually open the gate and it works. So some kind of connection is there. I found the video works when I do the same exact thing but my phone is connected to my wifi. Video also works when someone calls me from the keypad and I pick up, whether I'm on wifi or cell service. So it seems like the issue is only when my phone is not on the same wifi network as the doorstation and it initiates the call to the doorstation. The camera video is also connected to my NVR and it shows up there with no problems. The video also shows previewed in webgui . Snapshots work as well. Composer logs do not show any errors or anything different between the calls that show videos and those that don't. All settings both in Composer and the webgui look right. The only difference in logs I see is the Logs from the android app. In the Call System Logs, all the data looks the same except for "Quality (0=Terrible...5=Excellent):". The cell service calls show as a low number like: 0.100 , while my wifi call ones show as 4.0+. Which suggests there is maybe some kind of connectivity issues with the cell service, but my cell service is just fine and as mentioned earlier it works when the call is initiated from the doorstation. In the Navigator logs I do see the following line in the calls without video 2023-01-26 20:10:19,145 -0700 [main] WARN: C4CallManager - Experiencing a poor connection. Current bandwidth = 0.0 Time since last video frame = 0 AverageQuality: 1.17 Average loss rate: 0.00 Average video delay: 0.00 Average bandwidth = 0.0 I'm not sure when it stopped working but I know that at one point it DID work though. The Wifi/5g distinction makes me think it's possibly a networking issue. I recently replaced my internet with a WISP service where I don't have as much direct configuration anymore (like I needed to call for them to manually port forward) . Does the video portion of the connection use a different stream than the general connection with my C4? Does it require some particular port to be open (I see the SIP port is 5061)? Any other ideas
  3. Now that I've got my speakers all working again, I have found a small issue in one of my rooms. I have 2 rock speakers outside that are separate lines (One Left, one Right) coming from the Amp. I noticed that my Right speaker sounded like it was blown and has a ticking/interference like sound. I hooked up the speaker directly to the amp using a short temporary wire and it is clear that the speaker is fine and not blown! So it's got to be something to do with the wiring/amp? Here is one other very odd symptom that makes me believe it's not one bad wire. When I DISCONNECT the Right speaker and use Composer to transfer all signal to the Right speaker wire, the Left speaker still has a bit of sound and you can hear the interference/ticking in the Left speaker. So something is transferring over? What could that imply? Is the Right speaker wiring stripped somewhere and touching? Could the specific output in the Amp be faulty? I recognize I could start from scratch and test every single thing, but I would be thankful if anyone has experience with a similar puzzle and tells me a good place to start looking!
  4. I see that now. Its passing it through the regular output I have connected. How come I don't see the "connection" anywhere in composer though? All the digital media connections are basically circular and nothing is "connected" to my ea5 output (other than audio switch input). Does the system just choose any available output? All available?
  5. Got it working again, but not 100% sure what did it. Anyone ever experience things like this?
  6. I have never had a physical connection between my digital out at EA5 and a general IN on the switch (their is no specifically digital in) . I assume it's all done through the network.
  7. I have a EA5, hooked into a control 4 audio switch, which then goes to an amp/speakers. A few weeks ago I was not able to play music through my house on the speakers. I fiddled around composer and all the wiring and I did something that finally got it working. The last thing I did was disconnect and connect the audio out in the ea5/audio switchconnections in composer. Not sure if that's what did it as the hardwired audio in/out isn't what was wrong. Anyways, fast forward a week and it's not working again. This time nothing I've done has got it working. Here are the symptoms: hardwired in's and out's work. (so I have a TV that plugs INTO the ea5 and then goes out of the ea5 into the audio switch All the digital inputs is what doesn't work (pandora, spotify, nsa, etc..) The EA5 red light that signifies audio is going out DOES light up. pushing a "Test" audio through composer EA5 settings page for "stereo audio out 1" does result in audio in the rooms There is some very light crackling you can hear through the speakers when nothing is on, that I'm pretty positive we never heard before. It's the type of crackling that sometimes happens when a speaker is on but isn't getting an input. This is happening when everything sound wise is OFF though and I'm pretty positive it didn't happen before. However I have no idea if this is completely unrelated! Here is what I've tried Power cycling everything Disconnecting and connecting all the physical wires disconnecting and connecting all the "connections" in composer for the different digital inputs (pandora, spotify, nsa, etc) and ea5. Ensuring both have an IP both showing in composer and in my router What gives? Any other suggestions? Also, how does the digital inputs/outputs get connected to the audio switch? I dont see anywhere I can make a connection in the "connections" tab, so I assume it's just a smart connection through the network and I don't have to set anything up as long as both are recognized (they are). Or do I?
  8. OK... fixed. Manually unregistering the controller through the customer portal and then re-registering through composer fixed it.
  9. Right.... as mentioned that was the first thing I checked..... I just checked and it looks like the connection to the intercom from the app doesn't work either. Although the intercom itself is working as I have my NVR hooked to record the intercom's camera and that has been recording and I can live view through the NVR.
  10. Any suggestions on what to check next?
  11. Is 4sight not working for anyone else? I have an android and I can connect to the app when connected to wifi, but when not on the local network it won't connect. I have tried restarting C4 and I have also confirmed in my customer portal that my controller has still been checking in. (and 4sight isn't expired!). Also inside director I have confirmed by going to system diagnostics/Controller networking/test connection, that the controller has access to internet. I know there was recently an android app update, but not sure if that was when it started. Anyone else having issues? If not, what should be my next diagnostic step. EDIT: To add another datapoint, Alexa is also not connecting to C4. So it's not just the android app. Also under account service in composer: -Service Level: Controller connected to customer.control4.com -VPN Status: Check in successful So it's obvious that the connection between my controller and control4 online is not severed and that part is working as designed. (Not sure it matters but I am on 3.2.1)
  12. Very helpful, thank you. May as well close down forum responses and have an autoresponse saying "contact your dealer".
  13. The issue goes away if I power cycle the C4, but it randomly comes back and that means I can't open the gate for someone like my landscaper when I need to. C4 has been the worst system to work with. Does anyone have any advice on how to actually diagnose this that isn't just contacting your dealer? I have full access to Composer. All my drivers are up to date. Where can I find logs to show me glitches or memory hogs. Thanks
  14. When you are having an Alexa issue, can you try logging into your c4 through your phone app while not on wifi. Let me know if it connects or not.
  15. In the last few days the connection to my C4 through the android app has been hit or miss when not on wifi. It successfully goes through all the stages of connecting, then just gets stuck on "getting wake/sleep info" and won't move on from there no matter how long. Right now I have been trying to connect for 2 hours and havent been able to. My 4sight is up to date. EDI: Manually power cycling the controller did finally let me login. This has been happening a few times now though, anyway to get to the bottom of it?
  16. Mine has also had intermittent issues. I posted about it the other day and no one really replied with any viable solutions.
  17. Anyone else having Alexa/control4 issues? My Alexa stopped being able to control things on my c4 today. I went into the Alexa app and decided to try updating the authorization. We'll after logging out , I couldn't log in it just says it's experiencing an issue connecting to the skill and to try again later. Anyone else?
  18. OK guys. All figured out. The problem was a combination of two things that coincidentally went wrong. I will outline what I did and heopfulyl if someone else runs into this issue they dont have to kill 6 hours 1. It looks like in the webgui setup of http api, the "system" option was never changed from secured to unsecured. Everything else was. So for opening/closing and basic tasks Composer could communicate. For system level access to change settings, it could not because it tried to do Basic, but DS2 required Digest. 2. The webgui password was different than the API password. No idea how it happened. But it did. I solved this by finding a little unknown apitest.html that is included with the ds2 programming. Using that I was able to force send API commands in secure mode (Digest) . I downloaded the configuration file and manually changed the password hash to default. This works out to the T0talc0ntr0l4! password, which worked and then it asked me to reset the password to a new one as it's supposed to. Issue solved. But I still hate this POS doorstation as it is always nothing but trouble compared to every other electronic I own.
  19. Assuming the API username/passwrd is correct, is there a way to communicate to the doorstation using the API, not through composer?
  20. Resetting would be a total nightmare. I have a bunch of things changed/programmed in the doorstation webgui and composer. Setting everything up would take atleast a whole day and even then I'll have to stumble through for weeks remembering parts that may have been left out. The only thing that doesn't make sense is that Composer SHOULD have propogated the new login to the DS2. As I said, when I change the api user/passwd in composer, it now has login issues and the ds2 shows as offline. So that is hinting that the password in composer is in fact correct and SHOULD work in the webgui. Is it possible to change the websui password without changing the api password. I was under the impression that DS2 automatically uses the composure api password as the webgui password?
  21. It was changed to something personal. I think part of the issue may be that even though I changed it on the Composer side of things, I believe it may be possible it never changed it on the actual DS2 because of these connectivity issues. So even if I didn't care about fixing these connectivity issues (since there is little functionality I lose as long as I can access Webgui), the issue becomes that I don't know what the autogenerated password was! Unless you guys know of a way to salvage what it was or make it reset? (Without factory resetting the ds2!) edit: Changing my API username or Password takes the DS2 offline in composer. Changing it back , takes it back online. So I believe this means that the API password has in fact propagated to the DS2 and it SHOULD work. Something else i noticed is that when I go to the webgui, I get a certificate error "This CA Root certificate is not trusted because it is not in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store." So there may be issues with the certificate on the DS2 and maybe lack of secure connection is causing issues? Or is this how other peoples connection is too?
  22. Anyone else have any ideas? I needed to add user codes ASAP and can't because of this! I noticed inside the driver panel itself it also mentions an invalid connection type.
  23. Well I can't do it through software, which is part of the issue of my post. You mean by manually unplugging and plugging back in? I have not, but honestly I am a bit afraid to do it since it's functional in the most important ways right now and I don't want to invest 8 hours fixing it when power cycling breaks that. The API username inside of composer is "composer". I don't remember how that was set instead of root/admin, but I am sure it's not one of those because when I try to change the name it now has authorized user connectivity issues. If oyu are talking about in the webgui, I have tried it all. I know it's supposed to be admin, but I have tried composer, root & admin.
