  1. Does anyone have experience with the Chowmain Rako driver? I have had Rako for a while and recently made aware of the Chowmain driver which introduces the ability to control colours. My challenge is, it doesn't seem to have a setup for RGBW tape which means the colour wheel just doesn't work correctly. You also then can't set up a correct presets because the colours are always wrong.

  2. Slightly different but I had a similar issue with the Chime. It kept sending notifications saying the doorbell had been rung when it hadn’t. I had to do a full system reboot to fix. Not sure if you have tried this but have you tried connecting a simple relay or meter to the dry contact on the gate? This would help you determine if the gate contact is working correctly or not.

I’ll put a bet on there is a software glitch somewhere but hopefully I’m wrong.

Got all the parts but unfortunately I’m having major issues sourcing JAL-0001 , this allows you to have a com3 which is required to use the ComIP and Smartcom. Smartcom uses com1 and com2 and our premier 24 only has com1 and com2. Supplier can’t source any and I can’t find any available online. Map security showed in stock but they contacted to say it would be 3-4 weeks.  I wonder if these are maybe being phased out?

question just now is, the control4 part is most important. Are you able to set and unset via control4 app ?  Looks like it will just have to be the Smartcom setup via control4 just now until I can source this part.

    thanks

Yes, you can set and unset with the Control4 app. This can be both full arm and part arm.

Even if it’s a network issue, I would think Halo could be graceful. Reconnect and start working again eventually. It’s odd that a brief network failure is fatal.

While certainly possible, it would also be extremely coincidental that I started having issues the day or two after 1.7 installed.

I have this issue too. I had no problems before the firmware update and now regularly I get this network issue. I have to leave it for 30 seconds or so and it reconnects.

Sometimes it reconnects and then just won’t work. it will turn the tv and source on then nothing else. You have to leave it for a few seconds for it to almost boot up and then it works again.

  5. I have Texecom Elite with both Smartcom and ComIP. My understanding is you need both to enable integration with Control4 and use the Texecom App. If you don’t intend on using the Texecom app then my understanding is you don’t need both modules.

Installation has been done for a few years now and it seems to work well. I have a couple of niggles and looking for a new alarm installer as not many understand the integration with Control4.

With regards to integration, this has been a game changer. I now have the ability to use individual room sensors and door contacts for various programming. I particularly like the ability to turn lights on with alarm sensors.  The ability to have notifications and status along with automatic setting of the alarm has been great. For example, I have an evening routine which automatically sets the alarm at night. There are a few niggles, for example the Part Arm settings are not named so unless your a frequent user or only have one part arm, it can be confusing. I find myself using the Texecom app if I need to set and unset the alarm but this is not frequent at all.

For the small cost difference, I would recommend both the Smartcom and ComIP.

Yale changed something on their end about 3-4 months ago which stopped the integration. I found out about this from a call from my CEO asking why he couldn't get in his front door... which was nice.

How annoying. Only want to to show a light if any of the doors are unlocked :(

Yale Conexis locks work best with the Yale Home app, and any modifications to integrate with C4 may require additional technical knowledge.

The new home app is a big improvement and happy to use that. I only wanted integration for lock status but doesn’t seem as though that is possible.

You want to try the WIFI Drivers from here (Yale included in the zip)

    https://drivercentral.io/platforms/control4-drivers/security-systems/august-smart-lock/

Yeh I have tried this but comes up saying the Gateway is unable to find any locks and to check connections. I did read somewhere about firmware issues which is a shame. Not sure if its down to this or something which has been done wrong in my setup.

  9. I have a Yale Conexis in the UK and originally tried a Zigbee module for C4 integration which didn’t work very well.

Since then I have installed two further Yale Conexis locks with no integration into C4. I was notified last week that Yale are no longer supporting the old app and if I wanted to continue using app connectivity I would need to install a new Yale module to connect to the Yale Home app. Good job I want still using zigbee as there is only room for one module.

I also took the opportunity to upgrade to the WiFi units and I’m pleasantly surprised with the new app and connectivity which are working great.

The question is, is there a driver which will allow me to get the status of the locks into C4? If so, is there anyone who would be prepared to install this driver?

    Thanks

I use mine for doorbell, and alarm notifications.  Have you tried manually executing the programming from Composer (If you have it)?  The announcements point to the local IP of the controller, make sure that hasn't changed.

Yeh I tried to manually execute it and it just wouldn't work. I have since renamed the audio file and added it back into announcements which seems to be working. Very strange but at least it's working.

  11. Thanks for this. I never knew you could do that!

I have changed the sensor for a single load dimmer in the same room so will test it out.

After further investigation recently, I have realised the error occurs on all my dual load dimmers in the property and even managed to get into composer when it happened to look at the light sensor. Amazingly the sensor was reading 255 despite the room being in complete darkness. I have managed to get a screen shot of a dual load showing 255 yet another dimmer in the same room showing 0...

Control4 have suggested it might be a corrupt driver so I'm going to reload that as my next test. It really is bizarre and something I have never seen before. For all dual load dimmers to be showing rogue ambient light sensor readings, it does suggest to me its a software issue/glitch.

  12. I’m having a weird issue around the LED’s on UK dual load Control4 dimmers and wondered if anyone has come across this before.

I had Control4 retrofitted to my property so in the main bedroom I have two dual load dimmers, single load dimmer and two keypads (no loads). The keypads and single load work without problems, however the two dual loads seem to turn on the button backlights and status LED’s when they feel like it at night. I have put a customised profile in for all 5 keypads so the LED’s go off in darkness which works fine except for the dual load dimmers. When the room is dark the LED’s turn off correctly but will then randomly turn back on and off throughout the night.

To ensure I wasn’t going mad I set up a camera on the keypads to see what they were doing at night and counted over thirty times when the button backlights and LED status lights turned on and then off again. This was at completely random times throughout the night and sometimes came on for a minute or so and other times would stay on for 20 minutes. It’s really annoying because they come on at full brightness and wake us up. There is no change in the ambient light and I can’t see anything else causing an issue.

My dealer kindly supplied me a new dual load which was fitted but sadly the problem still occurs suggesting this is a software issue.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I’m looking for wireless window sensors. I already have some Nyce sensors on doors, are they still in business? Any other recommendations?

    Thanks

I tried going onto their website and it doesn’t seem to work. Glad they’re still operating. Will send you a PM

  14. I'm trying to see if there is a way to change the on screen navigator buttons. I have a gate which shows under security but it is a toggle instead of on or off and would prefer to leave it this way. But, I would like to change the button with the onscreen navigator to be open only and not a toggle. Control4 gets feedback from the gate but it doesn't register it as closed until it fully closes, however sometimes the gate needs to be opened again before it fully closes and the toggle button only says a close command because it sees it as open. I can do this with custom buttons but that adds extra clicks or I was thinking to create an experience button.

Does anyone know if there is a simple option I am missing?

  15. Hi,

I am in the UK so using the Control4 Square keypad which are retrofitted so using a mixture if switched and dimmers. With a few dual load dimmers I have lights in load 1 and a fan in load 2. I noticed there is a specific fan driver but it requires a relay which isn't an option with the dimmers and looks to only be an option with switches. Does anyone know if there is a way to change this? It would be nice to represent the fans in control4 navigator instead of lights. The driver also seems to have timer options too.

    Thanks
