  1. Any texecom experts available for remote support?

I have just had a Texecom alarm installed and I have some queries about the set up of smartcom and comip along with integration into C4. The control 4 integration has been done on the Smartcom module but I also wanted use of the texecom app so I have had a comip module installed today. I am unsure if i need to disconnect C4 and use a new IP address. Also would like help with history in C4 and naming of part arms.
    thanks

So there’s no way to get the history to work with any NVR such as Lilin or Hikvision? It’s literally limited to only the DS2 and chime?

They do store history but it’s only in short small clips. There is no timeline scrubbing like a traditional NVR.

Can you not just take the rtsp stream and take that into the NVR and record from there. Surely that would enable history and scrubbing?

The chime supports standard rtsp streams and you can implement that into any NVR.  Just pull the values off of the camera driver.

Here is the rtsp stream for mine. rtsp://192.168.1.XXX:554/live.sdp.  It uses basic authentication.

That’s what I thought. Time to get the CCTV install done then and I can remove my old nest.

  4. So I used to have my Yale lock integrated into C4 but note this is not supported by either C4 or Yale…

In the end I had to remove it from my system as it was causing a really strange zigbee issue where you would turn the lights on from C4 and the lights would go on, then off and then back on again. After numerous hours testing various different issues we realised it was down to the L1!

Since it’s been removed there have been no similar issues.

You should also note, due to the nature of the multi point locking doors the L1 is designed for, you cannot remote lock. You need the lever to be pulled up in order for the lock to engage which has to be done manually. You can only unlock the door with C4. The L1 also doesn’t track user entries within C4. The old Yale locks would show who unlocked the door based on a pin code but the L1 cannot do that. IMO they just aren’t worth integrating and I am yet to find an alternative.

Feel free to message me for more info.

Camera history is only supported with C4 specific cameras.  The new Chime and DS2 both support a historical entry with video or snapshot.  Control4 has not released the API method to support this on 3rd party devices.

I am hoping to integrate the stream for the chime into a Hik NVR. Has anyone done this? I have tested the stream using media player but would be good to know if anyone has had success.

My individual contact switches etc are in the rooms for C4 not all under the security panel. This is how I program off of them. Maybe same for you. Unsure as to second question.

Yes I am adding generic relays and binding them to the door contacts so I can program but when I click on the alarm there is a tab called zones but it doesn't show anything. It did when it was first installed today but that has now gone. It was an easy way to see if any doors were open.

  7. Today I had a new Texecom alarm installed which has been integrated with C4 and I have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone might be able to answer?

    1. Originally I could see all zones, for example I have multiple door contacts and if a door was open it would show, however that has disappeared and I can't figure out why. On C4 it just says no open zones.

    2. I am having a number of partial arms. C4 seems to provide the option for "Part Arm", does anyone know how to use these?

    Thanks

    Hi @Gary Leeds UK :

I managed to get the new announcements code working after some wrestling.  Here were my steps:

    1. Upload an mp3 file of the announcements to the Controller.  I first created a new (dummy) item in the C4 announcements agent, and then clicked "add" to add the mp3 file.  The new file then showed up as an option in the announcements agent.

    2. In the Sonos Network driver, choose "Play Audio Clip" and then the Sonos Room.  You can then put in whatever dummy name you like in the name field.  Finally, I inserted a URL to the filename on the controller.  This is of the form, http://[Controller IP address]/announcements/[File name].  So, for instance, if your C4 controller is at 192.168.0.20, and the file name is Gary's awesome announcement.mp3, you would enter the following URL, http://192.168.0.20/announcements/Gary's awesome announcement.mp3.  (I am not sure if the file name is case-sensitive, but I was careful to match the case showing up in the file name list within the announcements agent in case it matters.)

Finally, my queue will no longer be junked up every time I call an announcement from the favorites list.  I am so happy!

Let me know if this helps you.

Is anyone able to help me here? When I look at the Sonos network driver I don’t have any information on “Play Audio Clip”. All I have under properties is the driver version and debug mode.

Just switched from DS2 to Chime.  Previously had the DS2  recording to Luma NVR.  DS2 used to output a secondary stream that the NVR would display on a multi-camera layout in the web browser.  Chime does not seem to have the ability to offer a second stream so my Chime camera shows up blank in the multi-camera layout.  Any known workarounds?

Were you able to resolve this by taking stream 2 from the chime?

4Sight is required for intercom anywhere (which is to your phones) - it is NOT required for local intercom (including 'ringing' your touchscreens)

Thanks and that's what I thought. I just can't seem to get it to ring the touchpad. I can start a call to the chime from the touchpad but not the other way around.

No need for flic hub, u r replacing the hub with the Pi as a BLE gateway. And Buttons can be added as devices in IOT device driver.

I have finally got my Flic V2 and connected to the Pi using the IOT device driver. Silly question but how do I now surface the button in Composer?

Thanks for the info. I have ordered a Flic V2 to test and see how it goes.

I specifically bought this lock for testing on our control4 system. Complete with the Control4 Zigbee module.

Has anyone actually managed to get this device working with C4?

I cannot identify it at all.

    Any luck folks?

Yup I’ve had it working for a while now however I’ve just had to take it out.

The reality is Control4 state they don’t support the L1 therefore information surrounding the ID of these locks is non existent. In order to ID the lock you press the button THREE times not the usual four. This should ID straight in.

So, the reason I have just removed it. For a while I have been struggling with odd behaviour on my lights. When I would use the C4 app the feedback for the lights wouldn’t work correctly and if turning the lights on they would turn on, off and then on again. The opposite would happen when turning off. After many weeks of trying various things, my dealer stumbled across the lock causing the issue. We have just tried the lock being connected to its own controller and zigbee but unfortunately that hasn’t solved the problem.

As it stands I will not be integrating the lock with C4. I am also not aware of any other multipoint locks which work with C4.

    Hope this helps.

I've got a Just Add Power system now, but it only does 1080p and I'm wanting to make the jump to 4K content. I'm wondering what everyones thoughts are on Just Add Power versus the new Snap A/V Binary MoIP stuff.

Cost and compatibility aside, does anyone have an opinion on if one product is simply better than the other? Factoring cost in, does the cost change the value equation for you at all?

I would love any thoughts and opinions from someone who has experience with both products. I've absolutely loved our Just Add Power system - it's been flawless, and continues to be. I've also got a Snap A/V HDBaseT balun going to the projector in my theater room, and it works flawlessly as well. Looking forward to your thoughts.

Not sure where you are based but I would think twice about a MOIP system. Having installed a J+P 3G system recently for distributed 4k video I have unfortunately had to take it back out and send it back.

I am in the UK and despite J+P claiming they can deal with 4k60 it’s actually not the case. The receivers can only receive a maximum of 4k30. In the UK things like sky boxes do not allow you to reduce the frame rate below 50hz which is the PAL standard. The same goes for other sources too. This results in a terrible image on things like football/soccer which is the majority of what I watch. Standard 1080p output worked fine but the moment I tried to watch something in 4k the ball would ghost across the screen. I expect this is because the source was outputting at 50hz but the J+P was only using 24hz which resulted in 50% the frames disappearing.

For me, the J+P concept is far better than a traditional matrix but for now it’s just not suitable for 4k. I will say, if you don’t watch 4k sport, you may never see an issue but for me it just wasn’t working. The solution for me was the HDA MHUB Pro 2.0. So far the system has been great and worked flawlessly.

For others saying they don’t see the point in these systems, I am a little confused. Maybe the UK market is different but I have numerous 4k tv’s but satellite providers such as sky only allow one 4k compatible box which means an av distribution system is the only way to get 4k content to all tv’s.
