    Hi All,

I need to connect my core3 digital coax out to an RCA input on my C4-16AMP3-B.

Any recommendations on a decent converter that wont break the bank ? I know there are some high end ones and there are cheaper ones.

Jaycar sell some Digitech convertors cheap, have used them several times and always seem to do the job?

  2. Hey Guys

I'm doing control 4 at a job and trying to integrate blinds/curtains into the system

There is a TBS smart hub for the blinds and the supplied insists there is a driver embedded into the hub to extract the driver and details in.

I've learnt the blinds into the hub via the app - they all work.

For the life of me i cannot see where the driver is? and cannot see anywhere online to download the drivers

I've tried a bond bridge and cannot see support for this particular brand.

    Any ideas?

  3. Hey Guys

I have a job where i need to control some high windows that have some 240 windows with 4 wires

    Green , Brown, Blue, Black

    The supplier isn't any help

As far as i know it needs

    Active black -Open

    Active red - Close

    Neutral blue - Stop

    Green/yellow - Earth

The electrical has wired twin ands earth and an sdi to a central loction

How would i wire this up? or an i better off with another control option?

There is no physical control method at present.

  4. Is a way for the cameras to stream better through control 4? I'm finding the cameras don't load straight way or its hit and miss and what how many load up, clients get annoyed the camera app loads them quicker then the control 4 app?

I have a job where there is 8 cameras in total, 1 camera is on network as its in a different building using a wireless bridge link, the other 7 are into the NVR direct, previously the old NVR had no direct POE ports and all camera were into a POE switche direct and loaded quicker?

    Thats a common question.

Firstly, when I say managed, I also include smart switches (smart switches are generally fine unless you're doing MOIP, or high end installs where you want L3)

    • The ability to monitor and prevent problems proactively is everything in a home automation environment. Without it, you can barely even identify if the network is even connected.
    • You also can't tell how much of the network is operational, or where the network is failing. If a customer tells me their wireless isn't working properly, with a dumb switch, it could be anything. With a smart switch, I can almost isolate it down instantly to the AP or something else.
    • With mesh points, its even worse.. It generally is EVERYTHING
    • In the overall scheme of things, it's only a bit more expensive. The smaller the home, the smaller the switch required too (scaling the price with size). For the added cost of an extra automated light, you can get a much better network backbone.
    • In Ubiquiti's case, they sell Managed/Smart switches only these days.
    • Some products like Sonos realistically require a smart switch (as they rely on STP). Without it, you can get network loops.
    • They offer proactive protection. STP blocks network loops. And many smart switches have things like DHCP guarding. With a Smart switch and managed equipment, you can mostly safeguard the network (in fact, if you REALLY wanted to, with STATIC ARP, you actually could entirely safeguard it).
    • Without a smart switch, it is difficult to identify there is a problem on their side. They could say their internet is unstable, but you have no way of knowing if its network or router related.
    • In another case, I blew hours of time because a customer had a unmanaged switch.. At the end, I pulled out their 2 unmanaged switches, popped in 2 managed switches, and it fixed the problem instantly thanks to STP. It can actually end up cheaper

As a comparison, lets use cars. Every car these days has a diagnostics OBD2 port and diagnostics systems. You have engine lights and such to warn you when flags are triggered in OBD2, and then a technician can simply plug into it to determine what the cause is. There might not even be any obvious signals that there is a fault. And, even if you do see some minor side effects (such as vibration), as a mechanic, you'd have no idea if it's the road (not an issue), or within the car. The mechanic would need to start pulling stuff apart

Or, its the difference between a doctor identifying an issue without having access to X-Rays / MRI and just looking

With an unmanaged switch, you're basically driving around without any diagnostics and warning indicators or oil temperature.

The facts are, they don't cost much extra, and even a smart switch with default settings these days will generally perform as well as unmanaged, or better.  The difference is, when there is an issue with an unmanaged switch, a lot of guarantees you have regarding the network, are not enforced, and some issues which takes 5 mins to identify and fix on managed/smart, you can never be 100% sure of on unmanaged.    Furthermore, if the switch supports OVRC, your installer can even provide easy means to reboot equipment and troubleshoot via OVRC Home.

In fact, when I come across a home which is using a totally unmanaged switch still, I generally assume there are things wrong with the network personally and charge per hour (same if they're using an all-in-one for everything).

Telstra Modem and jaycar switch with multiple 5 Port switches around the place :)

Less focus on A vs U brand. (I'm not using names to make the point)
It's more do you want to manage the network, or pay someone else to do it.
If there's a issue with something not staying connected to the network, or needing tweaks, or updates, are you willing to put in the time.
And be sure the dealer will point the finger at the network first. "We don't have that issue on other projects...." right or wrong, it's a likely outcome.

I sell the A. I prefer to have a company that I can call and get support, and warranty replacements, and updates, and tech training, and what not to support my clients.
Most of my clients can't tell a router from a switch and an AP is a website to get news articles.
U is a viable product, but it's not the business plan I wish to work with. It's good gear, but no backside dealer support.

love the A and U...ive used A and dont rate tho for the on going head ache - Used U before many a time without much hassle or ongoing updates.

The P was much the same was at a site other day and 3-4 years old and all the WAP and Router needed updating.

  7. Hi guys

Doing a job and have a bond bridge just installed - have put somfy blinds on no problems and they work on control 4.

Have 2 external blinds with a stand alone remote - the brand is Becker on remote - tried to learn into the bond bridge under "other" would not find the signals thru the bridge.

There is also external roof louvre's that work on remote also on teleco automation remote which doesn't work for the bond bridge.

Does anyone know what driver/interface i need to use to make these work on control 4? even a 3rd party interface?

attached some photos of what remote i have.

  8. Thanks i am indeed running the omni driver and its working via IP. however i cant see the fields to control the blinds, again the firmware i can't see where to check this, have pc access software on my pc and can log in to see all the details of the blinds etc.

The blinds are hard wired thru rj11/12 connectors on a rs485/rs232 bus, i don't know much on leviton panel as i havn't had much exposure to it.

i have attached a few screen shot of the blind details in pc access

Announcing the availabllity of V14.0.0 of our popular Advanced Blind Control driver:

⦁    Enhanced control of any motorized shade connected to a Bond Bridge.
⦁    Enhanced control of any motorized shade controlled by two or three relays (Up, Down, Stop).
⦁    Ability to ‘encapsulate’ and enhance any third-party blind driver which currently supports only Up/Down/Stop with no feedback.
⦁    Interface with Control4 using the blind slider control with simulated positioning of blinds.
⦁    Ability to cause a one-way blind to move to any position reasonably accurately.
⦁    **NEW** SPECIAL Toggle/Stop keypad connection which provides additional control (used instead of normal Toggle).
⦁    **NEW** Ability to define a smaller limited area where the blind can operate when disabled (by an open door or window contact, for example).
⦁    **NEW** Ability to forward blind commands to other blinds, as an alternative to using groups.
⦁    Ability to control blinds via programming Events (Up, Down and Stop events with another driver actually sending the commands).
⦁    Support for dual motion blinds via a new ‘Blind with Tilt’ driver (Event control only for the tilting part).
⦁    Blind Driver Scenes which can easily position controlled blinds at any position (individually selectable).

The driver is available on DriverCentral at Advanced Blind Control

    Hi

    Hello All

I have this TV, and everything works with Control 4, but not turning on the TV. I still have to keep my TV remote, which has a Control 4 driver.

    https://drivers.control4.com/solr/drivers/browse?&q=&fq=manufacturer:"Hisense"

I am at the wit's end on this and was wondering if anyone with this TV has run into this issue and found a fix.  I am open to any suggestions. Once Powered on, everything works, including Power Off.

    Thanks Again

    Rajesh

Might have to make a custom driver on this one, I have had some issue with TCL another cheap option of TV. I find to stick to main stream brands of TV as i find they just work - in saying that though can't expect the customer to go out and buy new TV as the same time...

  11. Hey guys

Doing a control 4 job at the moment that has leviton installed with rs232 control from leviton to cbus module then cbus module to control 4 controller via rs323 serial cable.

The blinds are currently controlled by cbus dummy addresses using the rs232 control to leviton panel. there is a rj12 bus system that blinds are connected to around the house.

I've got the leviton driver installed however its limited and doesn't show output relay for all the blinds. there is some blinds of the actually board itself but there rest are linked to a bus around several access panels around the house - do i need a link bridge of some description? bond bridge? they are setup as somfy ILT blinds in most cases through the lighting units in leviton software - as leviton is no longer i can't get any support on the product.

I've tried to program cbus commands in control 4 to operate the blinds to which doesn't work - or the system crashes and required a reset - the commands just flash on and off , What options have a got to use rs485 blinds and levition? there is around 20-30 blinds around house , can't run new cables as it's double story house with foam sealed roof cos its right on the water.

  12. Still using the normal ends - never have an issue and can do them in under a minute, i use a small flat blade to pull the wire straight from where i want the twist to stop.

EZ push thru ones don't interest me at all - its another tool i don't need to buy.
