  1. Would these relays work with my existing setup? The instructions show them installed on stand alone "smoke" or "CO" devices. If connected to my existing system, how would the relay differentiate between type of alarm?
  2. Like anything in life, you get what you pay for. If you use a top tier insurance provider, you should not run into problems. The OBC is behind in so many areas, but like any political machine it's hard to keep things current. In the 1990s things changed or evolved over 5-10 years. Now we are accustom to change in 5-10 weeks. Really hard for the code to keep up. Fair enough, I have a pretty good idea where to put them.
  3. In Ontario (Ontario Building Codes) these are the requirements: · Where must smoke alarms be located? Every floor, including basement, in all bedrooms (Division B 9.10.19.3). · Must be hard wired & battery backup (Division B 9.10.19.4) · Be interconnected (Division B 9.10.19.5) · Include visual signaling [Division B 9.10.19.2(1)] There is no requirement about monitoring or zones. In fact, monitoring is not even required. My insurance company asked me to add additional detectors to the following locations where fires are most likely to start, which I did via DSC Neo Wireless PowerG devices. · All mechanical rooms. · Garage · Attic If I wanted to add some additional heat/smoke/fire/CO detectors: 1) Where would you suggest putting them? 2) Do you have any brands / makes / models you prefer? 3) Are there any wireless solutions or just hardwired?
  4. So I would just need 1 relay for smoke and 1 relay for CO? Can you provide a link for the make/model/style of relay you would suggest? Thx It would seem my Control4 system can tell that it was a fire alarm (see Control4 History) verse a burglar alarm. I must just have this programmed wrong. Will work on it with my integrator. FYI Zone 8 is a universal zone for all of my hardwired smoke alarm. Since my Kidde P4010ACLEDSCOCA detects both Smoke and CO, either event will be registered as "Fire" on my DSC panel and Control4 system. I do not believe there is any way to differentiate between the type of alarm. If that is the case, I believe a Macro/Automation for fire would be the best course of action (for either scenario) in which the furnaces and all exhaust fans turn off. Thoughts?
  5. Every couple of days my DS2 goes offline or the picture gets messed up. I would like my DS2 Doorstation to reboot everyday at 5am. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?
  6. If one of the hard wired Kidde P4010ACLEDSCOCA is triggered by smoke, I get a call from the monitoring station / alerts at the DSC keypad / and my control4 programming for fire is triggered. EDIT: I don't think my Control4 programming for "Fire" was triggered, I think my Control4 programming for "Alarm" was triggered. It would seem my system is not capable of executing automation for Smoke or CO given my current hardware configuration. What would I need to add hardware wise to fix this?
  7. The three options for emergency types it offers me are "Fire", "Medical" and "Panic". Nothing for Carbon Monoxide. If my detectors were triggered by Carbon Monoxide (CO) not even sure how the system would interpret that.
  8. You are correct. Want the fans to run longer. I will consider this. Thanks.
  9. Our system uses hard wired Kidde P4010ACLEDSCOCA SMOKE/CO detectors. I want to create different programming based on the type of alarm... If there is an event, is there a way for Control4 to differentiate between the type of event (Smoke or CO)? It looks like Control4 only see's if an "emergency" is triggered. Does not know what TYPE of emergency...
  10. Will ask Mitch to add this to my system next time he is doing work. Is there any benefit to using this over a timer programmed in the fashion below? FYI, I have it like this so the timer for the exhaust fan resets anytime a light is turned on OR off.
  11. I would like to keyword search within topics that were created by me. I want to create a Macro for my system in the event of fire, CO2 etc. I recall someone discussing this in one of my older threads, but when I search for "fire" or "C02" I get thousands of results from all topics ever posted. Anyone know how to do this?
  12. I am creating programming so anytime any light in a bathroom is turned on it triggers a timer that will turn on my bathroom exhaust fan. If a light is on AND then another light is turned on in the bathroom, I want the timer to restart. In the Timer Agent there are 7 choices: start, stop, restart, reset, pause, resume, expired In the Timer Programming there are only 6 choices: start, stop, reset, pause, resume, expired. RESTART is not available? Figured this out, it is available in ACTIONS menu. Sorry for the post, no way to delete it...
  13. I used to do this, but my carrier (Rogers) does not allow it anymore. This was the point of my original post "My provider discontinued the email address that would forward the email to a phone number / SMS (xxx-xxx-xxxx@pcs.rogers.com)"
  14. There is one more reason why SMS notification is better for me than email or Control4 push. Email: Some days I receive 50+ emails and it is easy for one of these notifications to get lost in the bunch. Control4 Push: even when set to "Persistent" notifications in iOS, I feel like sometimes the notifications get missed. When I get SMS messages, I never miss them.
  15. Just spoke with NuHeat. Thermostat only works with electric heating. Might be usable for hydronic heating but would require relay for this application.
  16. I have NuHeat for one of my electric heated floors and it seems to work well and integrate with Control4 nicely. Are you sure this thermostat works with hydronic heat?
  17. House was built in 2020. Bathroom fans are predominantly Panasonic FV-0510VSL1 I will look into this. However, I like the idea of being able to automate my exhaust fans via the Control4 system.
  18. Currently have radiant heated floor in my garage being controlled by a Tekmar 519 thermostat. I would like to replace this thermostat with one can easily be integrated into my Control4 system. Suggestions?
  19. Does anyone know how frequently the Shelly Plus H&T Humidity (SHELLY-HT-GEN3) updates the system? Is this user configurable? Hey Alan, when you battery lasted this long, how frequently was it pushing sensor readings to the system (ever 5 seconds, 5 minutes, hourly etc)?
  20. Thought about this but: 1) changing bathrooms fans to humidity sensing fan is cost prohibitive. 2) don’t have space for a humidity sensing switch. If we move forward with the bathroom automation, there will be one C4 Keypad, a blank off plate and 2 x Shelly 2pm’s. new the space behind the blank off plate for the Shelly hardware. At this point just considering using some Shelly H&T Gen 3s.
  21. Do you think these two devices could be used together and hidden inside the fan to achieve the desired goal: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01IBBFOF0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1VTL661FOEJB1&psc=1 https://www.shelly.com/en-us/products/shop/shelly-plus-add-on
  22. Hate the idea of having to change batteries every year.
  23. Can anyone suggest a solution/product that would allow me to hardwire and hide a humidity sensor INSIDE a bathroom exhaust fan? I want my Control4 system to turn the fans on/off based on humidity levels at the respective location.
  24. Can the E-Ink be turned off to further extend battery life? I am considering integrating Shelly into my Control4 system. Do you know if Shelly offers any hardware that would allow me to hardwire and hide a humidity sensor INSIDE a bathroom exhaust fan? I want my Control4 system to turn the fans on/off based on humidity levels at the respective location.
