  1. Hello, I'm new to Control4 and just purchased a used EA-5 V2 on eBay. It didn't come with the rack ears, though. I have two questions. First, does anyone know where I can purchase rack ears for this device? Second, are the rack ears sufficient to rack mount this device, or should it be supported by a shelf with the rack ears just tieing everything together cosmetically? Basically, is it safe to use only the rack ears for mounting? Thanks a bunch!
  2. Thanks for the info, Andrew. The strips I'm using are high density COB addressable strips with over 700 LEDS per meter, so I'm afraid the TP Link strips won't work. What I need to find is a controller (even if it's bundled with a strip, as I could just throw the strip away and use the controller if it is compatible with my type of strips. Sadly the TP Link controller is not compatible) that will work with standard IC Addressable LED Strips that can somehow interface with Control4. Through my research, I found people talking about using a DMX controller of some kind to do this, but I don't know how that works and what I need to look for??
  3. I was thinking about using a blank cover plate with no holes for switches in it for the 3 gang switch bank then for the one single switch just a few inches away, that is where I'd prefer having the keypad, but the load that switch controls is a high wattage on/off only load so I don't know which product to use or what would work? Do you have a link or a specific model number for the "Shelley" device you mentioned? I'd like to check that out and see if it will work for my needs. Thanks!
  4. I found this item, which would be perfect and is exactly what I'm looking for I think, but it's only available in a square/240v UK style and not US 120v! It's the only thing I can find that is a non-dimmable on/off switch with configurable keypad. Do they not make a US version of this? Dual Load Switch - C4-SDSW240-N
  5. Hello, I'm new to C4 and am in the planning stages for my system. I have a bank of 4 standard switches and what I'm hoping to accomplish is somehow replace 3 of the 4 switches with an inline switch/controller of some kind for each switch that mounts in each of the switches junction boxes so I can cover 3 of the switches up and just have one switch with a keypad to control the other 3 loads. 3 of the 4 switches control dimmable lighting but the 4th switch controls a large load and will require an on/off switch. I can't find any inline switches but did find an old product that was an inline dimmer, but it's no longer made or available, and I need an on/off non-dimmable switch anyway. I also found a keypad with a built in dimmer for a load that hooks directly to the dimmer/keypad but I don't see an on/off variant of that keypad/dimmer switch. Is there any other way I could easily convert that bank of 4 switches into just one with a keypad to control all 4 loads, 3 of them being dimmable and one being on/off only, so I can cover up the other 3 switches? Thanks for your help in figuring this out.
  6. Hello, I've been researching a way to control individually addressable (pixel) LED strips but am coming up short. I'd like to be able to select a solid color, the white channel, and also be able to select a program built into an LED controller such as rainbow, chasing, aurora, fire, etc from a Control4 touchscreen/remote. Is there a driver or other workaround/method of controlling these types of RGBW Addressable/pixel strips? I've read a little about DMX control, but I don't know anything about it or how that would work, what I'd need to buy, where to learn how to set it up with Control4, etc. I'd much prefer a plug-n-play solution if one exists and I have no problem buying a different controller if there is one that works with Control4 and individually addressable pixel LED strips. Thanks for your help.
  7. Hi, I'm brand new to this forum and don't know if this is the best place to post this or not. If not, mods, feel free to move it for me.I'm strongly considering going with a Control4 setup for my home.I'd start with my home theater (plus a few other simple lighting fixtures [and outside doorbells] outside the theater mainly in the lobby and arcade) and then upgrade and add to the rest of the house over time, one room at a time, due to budget concerns since the initial equipment cost will be significant and I want to make sure Control4 will work for me before investing in the whole house.I'm thinking of purchasing a used EA5-V2 for the controller. Before I commit, I need to get an estimate on what it would cost to integrate and set up / program all my devices.I can provide a specific and complete equipment list to anyone interested in giving me a quote, but basically, I'd want to integrate the following:2 or 3 August/Yale Door Locks15 ONVIF Cameras (Currently using Blue Iris but looking to possibly switch to a NAS or Dedicated NVR such as Hikvision or something similar that has good Control4 integration)2 Ring doorbells (or may upgrade to Control4 Chime units or something similar if necessary)Insteon lighting and appliance plug-in modules (may upgrade to Control4 lighting/appliance plug-in modules if absolutely necessary)Thermostat (Insteon, but will upgrade to something else if not compatible)Home Theater A/V equipment, projector, pre-amp, DirecTV, etc. Movie server (Dune HD or Zidoo depending on which one has the best integration)Two iPad's/Android tablets with some way to get full Intercom access/support if possible (may upgrade to T3 or T4 touch panels)Roon/Qobuz integration (if not built in or PC controllable, then I could purchase a Sonos Port or something similar)I'd want all these devices fully integrated with scenes, automation, etc. I'd like to control everything from a PC, if at all possible, with full Intercom functions, then have the touchscreens as secondary control devices.I'd also like to be able to have push notifications and pop ups show up on the projector via HDMI overlay when certain events happen, such as someone ringing the doorbell, an alarm of some kind, a camera detects motion, etc, and would eventually like to extend this to all the other TV's in the house, as well. Finally, I'd like to work with someone that would let me have access to Composer so I could make my own tweaks (once the initial programming is done and I learn how to use it, of course). Please let me know if you're interested in working with me and please provide a rough quote for the programming so I can see if this is even feasible right now. I'm on a relatively tight budget and don't want to waste anyone's time. I'm going to try my best to use (or purchase) as much equipment that has native Control4 support/integration as possible so as little custom programming/drivers as possible are needed, hoping to make the programming and setup straightforward, quick, and easy.I'll provide a complete list of equipment upon interest/request. If you have any used equipment (or other great deals) for anything mentioned above, be sure to let me know! I'd prefer you email me directly at jevansoh at gmail dot com for the fastest response as I'm brand new to the forum and not here often yet. Thanks,--Jason
  8. Hello, I'm brand new to Control4 (and this forum) and have just posted a thread seeking a quote for the initial programming and setup of a Control4 system in another thread. I'm also interested in integrating Josh.ai in my home theater to try it out. I need the most simple/basic (read cheapest) setup possible so I can try it out before committing to install it throughout my entire home. I prefer direct email contact at jevansoh at gmail dot com for the fastest response. I've seen a few quotes for a simple installation but they seem very expensive and I believe the pricing structure has changed in the last year or so from what I'm reading, so I'm hoping the entry point isn't too much as I feel this "could" be the permanent solution I'm looking for, but I'm simply not comfortable deploying it in the entire home until I try it out first. Thanks a bunch, --Jason
